Went for yet another overnighter this past weekend. This time, it was all about the BK4. I couldn't wait to use this thing. I know my threads are similar, but at least I'm using a different blade each time, haha. Hard to think of new things.

As we got there, the sun was about to go down. Pretty evening:

Dug out a stump, and saw this baby snake. I looked it up, and believe it to be a baby copperhead. The picture is slightly foggy. I left my camera out all night, and it got some slight condensation:

A wasp that got caught in a spider's web. Watched it for about 15 minutes, and it got out of the web, and fell to the ground. So I stepped on the bastard, haha. Yes, the gutter is rusty:

Close up. Almost looks like the wasp is crying out in agony:

Ah yes, let's get to the 4. A few glam shots:

No second guessing what this blade is. Distinctive BK4 shape:

Few more glams:

Chopped through this smallish log. Worked very well:

Scraping some cedar bark. Wife didn't realize the lens cover didn't open all the way:

Fire prep:

Yeah, the fire steel, flint striker, fire piston, etc, is funner, but this is easier, haha:

We took the slingshots, and did a little plinking, while waiting for the fire to turn to coals:

All about the 4 this time, but hey, you can never have too much steel:

I usually place my coals between two logs in this manner, to give the option of placing the pan over high, or low heat:

Get the breakfast sausages going:

Smoke in the sun always makes a coolish shot:

Meanwhile, back in the skillet:

It was a beautiful day again:

Melt a little butter in another skillet:

Some French toast out of Italian bread:

It was just too pretty for words out:

Took a log, and ran it from my chest to the ground, and did a little draw knifing:

Worked freakin' perfect, and made some nice curls:

Knocked the new right out of it:

Didn't see any turtles this time, but did see the snake, and this blue belly:

Had an absolute blast using the 4. Did many things I didn't get photos of. No tree was safe while this thing was around, haha. Just a hell of a functional blade. There is a bit of a learning curve to it. I know where the sweet spot is, but didn't get it in the right place every hit. Also, I was trying out the snap cut while delimbing. Again, this is new to me, but damn, when you get it right, it works very well. As with any new tool, it takes a bit to get the feel for it. Yep, the 4 and I are gonna have a lot of fun outings in the future. ;)

A PEPSI warrior?? I was expecting some dirt water boiling over the fire or some like that but a pepsi...really???
Haha...looks like a good time brother

Looks like a great weekend in a gorgeous place. And I want a bite of that Italian Toast.
You did a great job knocking the new out of that Machax.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks man, it was a lot of fun. The French toast was killer, loved it.

Always enjoy your posts. Thanks for taking all the pictures and sharing. My 4 is a Cincinnati version. Not new but nearly new to me. I've got to get it out and put it to work and stop treating it like some safe queen. Thanks again.

Awesome pics man!! Looks like you really had a great time. I own a number of kukris and the 4 would be a natural transition to me but for whatever reason I just can't get into it. I want to like the 4.......I really do! Maybe I need to read more threads about it. Either that or being an honorable Beckerhead, I should just get one and find out myself first hand. Decisions, decisions.

One day I hope to get out and have as much fun as you seem to have.
Thanks for taking us along.

Beckers do look nice brand new, but they absolutely hate being safe queens. Once you come to terms with that you will see that they look much, much sexier used and abused!

Thanks man. Get out and use that bad boy. That's what they're made for.

Thanks man. This is my second 4. I didn't really want one, but decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, I never used it. I thought it was too small, and wouldn't do anything the 9 couldn't do, so I sold it. With all the renewed interest, I wanted another. Glad I got it, it's a lot of fun, and a very versatile tool.

Thanks man. We do have a lot of fun. I used to be an armchair outdoorsman, haha, but decided to do something about it. I love looking at other peoples outings, but wanted it for myself. Glad I made the transition.

The 4 is just plain fun to use isn't it? Great shots Dubz. Beautiful day at a beautiful spot.

Man, it just is. Lot of fun. Thanks man, it was pretty out. Gonna have to get yourself and Kay out there one of these days. ;)

Well now that you have the 4 9 and brute, how do they compare? That looked like a great time!

As a knife nut, I like them all. If I had one to choose, it would be the niner. Once I get more acquainted with the 4, I may change that perspective a bit. Like I said, more of a learning curve there. And thanks man, we had a good time. I wish my wife didn't have to work Saturdays. That's why we do overnighters, instead of the whole weekend. I want to get some hikes in, in the area, but with the limiting time, we don't do it.

Nice job, as always. I love my 4, it's my go-to woods knife. I was actually disappointed in it when I first got it for some of the same reasons you state..... I thought it was too small, I expected it to be bigger than the 9. It's not, it's smaller and lighter, yet once you get the knack of the blade it can do pretty much anything a 9 can do.

Thanks man. I'm not sure why I thought it would be bigger, but I was expecting something in the range of a larger knife, smaller machete. That's the thing, when I learn it better, it'll be more effective.

nice shots, warrior, sure is a beautiful spot, thanks for the lo/hi setting for the pan, I will try that in my next outing! and yeah, there is no such thing as carrying too much steel :D
