Fun with damascus

Kevin-

I arrived at 60Rc by heating it with 7 propane torches, quenching in Extra Extra virgin goat urine, and tempering at 65F for 4.375 days. :D

Eeeeeeeewwwwww!

'Bout time you got yourself out into that cluttered garage of yours and started using all those toys ya got!!! :D

Nice piece of steel ya got there, and since I know Nick a little, I'd have to say I totally believe he treated it the way he said he did it!!! LOL!!!

On to the Q at hand: I vote for no handles, too! Looks like it would make one sweet necker for woods walking... even if ya have to sweat a little to finish it off! Ha, 'bout time you broke a bead! LOL!!!

However, maybe a thin red liner and ivory micarta might provide a nice handle for something like this...

Keep at it Danbo... and if I drive back that way again I'll swing by and see if you've finished any of those little projects you were showing me...

Good luck!

Dan,
Looks nice and clean. I like the Idea of reduced sized scales & Ivory.
Maybe a very light burl.like Malee.
Let's see it when it's complete.

Nick: ' bet your shop smells terrific!!!

Danbo, nice work! I would opt for the ivory or blackwood, too, It's really nice to see you and Bastid here on this side of the forum. I knew you would be making knives someday, with all the bad influence here! Nick uses goat pee for quench, IG uses skunk. Me, I go for squirrel pee. It takes me longer to collect a few gallons, and climbing all those trees is pretty tiresome, too.

Looking good! I say you toss some pakkawood on it and call it good. :D

Danbo
my opinion is some super sweet Pearl. maybe blacklip
if you are going to put ivory on her id put on some nice cream/ tan bark with crack's on it after i found some nice stabilized ivory . Great steel mix there
id leave the handle a little short of the top/bottom of the scales to show off a little more steel and filework the hell out of it with a dremel and a carbide small bit . Sorry but you asked for a opinion :D

John- ROFLMAO!!!

Kind of scarey, as I was reading that- instead of thinking "Yuck!" I was wondering how you would ever get enough from a squirrel! HAHAHAHA :D

BTW-Danbo has some sort of special buying powers that allow him to buy things no mere mortal typically would be able to.

Hmmm, I guess I need to do something to make my damascus sales page on my site a little more accessable  I never was good at this marketing thing :(
