Functional Design for a Skinner?

thanks for the compliments. I tried to make a knife that flowed but still was in the same style as the one he wanted me to copy. I hope he thinks I was successful. I will deliver it on Tuesday and find out.

I like skinners and that one looks just fine; quite nice to me. I wonder though if it might be better to drill a few of those handle dimples all the way through. Is a take a part or will you be bonding scales? If bonding, through ports from scale to scale is good.

The holes are drilled all the way through. The scan makes it look they arent but they do go all the way through the tang. There is a pic of the finnished knife further down in the thread.

That came out beutifuly, I don't know about the customer's taste in knife design, but his taste in handles is exceptional! WOW!

He told me he wanted walrus ivory and i wanted to give him something a little more unique. It is walrus ivory but not the same old walrus that you see on most knives. This knife is the 4th or 5th knife I have made with mamoth tooth bolster and I can tell you i will be making alot more. I love the look of polished mammoth teeth.

That turned out beautiful, really nice work
As far as design, you talk to enough hunters you'll find that there are a million different ways to get the guts out and the hide off of a deer. I've even talked to people who peel the hide off with a rope and a pickup truck! The design may not be quite what everyone here wants but its probably exactly what your customer needs for the way he does things :D

I really like it! Those bolsters look great, too. I was wondering what the heck the bolsters were made of. Your choice of materials and design for your customer wants will more tha fill his bill.
