Very cool! Did you disassemble the knife first, or just soak it as is?
I've never forced a patina, but I'm thinking about trying it. I'm curious what chemicals produce what effects and colors.
I think that whatever colors are initially achieved generally tend to fade to varying shades of gray with repeated use. For me, I wanted something dark with a little bit of pattern to it because I felt that would be the look least likely to change over time.
While forced, I also chose to not patina the entire blade. The PM2 is easy enough to disassemble if you feel like you can live without the warranty, but I did not know how a patina in the area of the pivot might affect the action and so decided to play it safe. I could see where a patina in the pivot area may or may not affect the action. Still, I did not want to slather a bunch of mustard into that area of a knife that was not taken apart. I would think that would have a negative impact if only because it would be hard to clean everything off.
