funky color handles

Just wanted to put my $0.02 in.

I don't like colored handles, especially bright colors.

I'm speaking of the Yojimbo and its electric blue G10 grip.

I've found that colored handles tend to attract attention, regardless of size or blade shape. Folks keep looking at it, or asking about it, even with an OD Green.

I'll stick a nice, basic black, please. At least, the option of black would be good for a carry knife. Let's keep the crazy colors to the Microtech and Kershaws. ;)

I'm tired of everything looking all tactical ninja..the yojimbo is a great color-as are the salsas

Blue is Funky?

I welcome the colors myself. Blue, OD green, hunter green, dark burgundy, dark purple, anything other than black but still dark is ok by me.

I like the colors myself. I especially like the colors of the Chinese Lum, Lil' Temperance, and the Salsas. More importantly, where did you see Yojimbo picks?

Guess I'm outvoted in this forum.

:)

Still, I stick by my guns -- colored handles attract attention, and any attention is not a good thing. :(

Perhaps we'll have an option. :)

Jazzman,

There's a pre-prototype picture of the Yojimbo on the Spyderco.com forum, somewhere. It looks totally rocking; I can definitely see the resemblance to the Snody folding Ronin.

Blue or not, it's on my list. I know I have a black Sharpie somewhere around here.... :D

I like colors but I like them on the dark side.I agree that real bright colors attract attention.

My aesthetics must be a bit skewed. I like the look of tactical knives, but I really don't care for the black "stealth" look. My collection is almost entirely non-black. The exceptions are models where I think the black is more elegant than tough, like the Mini Dyad.

Well, okay, I will not try to justify why I own a black-bladed Sifu. :D

Colors may increase attention, but in my experience it's not negative attention. In fact, the nicer a color on a handle, the more people ooh and aah at my knives.

Just looking at the color difference between a model will show different reactions in people.
My pink cricket serrated edge: "Aw what a cute knife!"
My black cricket serrated edge (no longer own it): "Wow, that's a scary little blade! What's with all the teeth?"

*grin* ToTC, apparently we're in different parts of Balti!! :)

With the black handled knife, I get "...".

With the OD or micarta handled knife, I get "Hey, what's that? A KNIFE!?? Are you in the military? Who are you planning on killing?!?"

Granted, I've never carried a bright pink Cricket... *laugh*

I prefer colors, especially options. Possibly different production runs with alternate colors like BM did with the 94X series. Certainly black should be one of the options.

I'd also like to see options on pocket clips, polished or black of course on every Spyderco, but perhaps anodized titanium in colors. I'd be willing to pay to order the clip separate to get the color I prefer.

What I think would be totally cool on a Yojimbo is a cream color with the G-10 textured like ray skin.

Another vote for black. Hey, basic black will never clash with whatever stylish outfit you're using your sypdie to accessorize.;)

Best regards,
Argyll

I don't care for the real funky colors like pink, yellow, purple, lime green, etc. I like dark colors like forest green or navy, or neutral colors like tan. I would like to see some knives made with colored scales and nickel silver bolsters. The contrast looks good.
