The Creepy Tales from the Bush thread is pretty good, but I bet you've all got some pretty funny stories too. Let's hear them!
Here's one of my favorites.
Back in the late 1970's, my Boyscout troop was going camping on a private farm in southern Minnesota (our Scout Master knew the land owner). We had the usual assortment of boys in the troop, from early to late teens. This trip was a first "real" camping trip for a couple of the younger scouts.
Anyway, we got to our camping site after dark. Setting up those heavy, green canvas tents that we used to use was a pain in the best of times, but after dark they were particularly annoying. It was a nice night with no hint of rain, so we decided to skip the tents and instead just sleep under the stars.
That morning, just at dawn, we're all awakened by one of the most blood-curdling screams I've ever heard, then or since. Bolting up out of dead sleep, we all look over to see one of our brand-new scouts screaming in horror as a billy goat is happily licking his face.
The experience didn't turn him off from camping, but it was a long time before he agreed to sleep outside again without a tent.
