Further news about my shop shutdown

I'm no electrician but I can tell you that almost $8k for that work seems like a shocking amount.
We did a room addition to our house and upgraded to a 200 AMP from the original 100 AMP.
The electric company had to come in and do some underground work near the street, I had to pay an additional unexpected $900 to the electrician for some line extension work. I don't think I paid more than a few thousand for the 200 amp upgrade. The electrical was part of an almost 400 sq ft addition but I would have known if it was a large amount. This was 3 yrs ago.

More recently in the last 2 weeks I've been looking into some 220 and some outlets in the garage with a 60 amp subpanel.
2 quotes of $2,500 and one of $1150 from an older, close-to-retirement electrician. Most of the work is in bringing in the wiring from the main which is on the side of the house across the front to the attached garage some 30 feet away. I haven't got this work done yet but hope too soon.

My 200 amp is almost full but same thing here - I have "sufficient capacity on the existing panel to pull FOUR 20A lines without adding another panel"

hope any of this helps...ImageUploadedByTapatalk1439013147.088083.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1439013169.046802.jpg

...until I can find an electrician that really wants the job.

Usually the hardest part. Someone will turn up. I agree with hsc, though... You need to find a semi-retired guy that's doing it to keep busy and for a little extra cash. Most of the electricians I dealt with don't want to do anything residential unless it's new construction, or they only want commercial. Someone will turn up. Don't stop looking!!!!
