So on my quest to become a beckerhead I came across the the customized BK2 thread and the how to strip the coating off thread and I saw a great polished BK2 by EDXAMADOR (Thanks by the way for your advice). So I decided to combine both methods to strip my BK2. And here are my results.

Sprayed it down with some Tal Strip II.

Worked pretty well just that the fumes were noxious I had to work fast at scraping the coating. Got most of it and used 600 grit sandpaper to work off parts I couldn't get to with the scrapper

As you can see I still needed to sand it down a bit more near the handle

Working with 1500 grit sandpaper to polish it a bit and make it a bit smoother

With scales and flash

No flash makes it look a bit nicer

Next I'll be polishing it with some Flitz. Anyone else have any suggestions to make it mirror polished? All hand sanding btw. Had to rest. Getting a little dizzy from all the fumes and sanding. Its a lovely 25 degrees here in VA

Now that you got to 1500 grit keep going until you reach 2500 grit...

Looks good by the way

Yeah, damn good man. put some custom grips on it. Micarta, wood whatever.

0000 Steel wool, mineral oil, and circular patterns. I hit mine with it, and even with the patina, you can see yourself in it. Lots of elbow grease in that method, though. Loves me some shiny BK2

don't get distracted while polishing, or you'll mandoline your fingertips off.

looks good :>

It looks nice. How long did you leave the stripper on it before you started scraping?

I leave it on for 15-30 minutes. 15 because I couldn't wait and I felt it was easier to scrape while it was still a little wet. But the fumes were noxious...got pretty dizzy because I was doing it inside ((Stupid)). But it was about 7 degrees out...

Here's an update. After speaking to a number of different people on the forum I decided to work on polishing up my blade a bit more. Thanks to those who contributed. Here are my updated results. :D

I'm going to hit it with some Flitz per edxamador's suggestion once I get it in I'll post another update. Thanks for the suggestions.

how are you going to protect the steel under the handles? Carnuba wax? some kind of oil?

VERY impressive polishing job!

My arm is cramped from all the sanding but its well worth it. I've been just rubbing it down with some mineral oil every few weeks. After I polish it with some Flitz I've heard that it helps protect against rust as well.

That polished up better than I thought it would--I can only imagine the elbow grease put into that process! Great Job!!

I was surprised too but once it started to mirror up around 1500 grit I started getting excited to see what the 2000 and 2500 grit would do. Took about 2 1/2 hours but what else am I going to do at 1am? :D

Looking good  With a little patience (which I don't have) they sure polish up nice don't they. I like how it gives the whole knife more of a custom look.
