Wife stole my speakers so I can't hear the audio but if this isn't somehow staged, this guy makes Timothy Treadwell look sane:

Man vs. Lion

Cool video.

Sooner or later a lion's going to ugly him up something fierce (or worse), lets just hope they got the cameras rolling when that day comes so we can all enjoy viewing the obvious consequences of insanely reckless behavior.

At first I thought he had mace or some kind of pepper spray, but he was actually rocking a roll of toilet paper in his hand lol

Can I post some vids of real man vs lion action, not just the stare down?

Now that is just insane! That man has either a pair of bass balls or he is just plain stupid. You wouldn't catch me doing that.

I wonder what caliber of TP is best for self defense?

Smaller would be faster, and as he says, "catch the lion's eye".

Bigger would pack a punch though.

Thanks for the cool video:thumbup:

IMO The lion always looked at him as prey.If you notice the lion is a juvenile ie-still playfull, curious & probably not as good of a hunter as his elders. He (the lion) was going through the typical motions though, like trying to rear up on their prey & grab'em by the back of the neck.If that was a fully mature male or female lion, this would be a snuff flick. This guy's gonna wind up eaten like that guy that went to live with grizzlies. It's only a matter of time.

Was indeed a cool video, thanks.
Now I know what to do when I would meet a lion while I am taking a shit alone in the wild, with nothing other than my precious toilet paper :)

I'm wondering if the guy made eye-contact with the lion himself. It's not visible from the camera viewpoint.

The TP trick should afford you just enough time to repent

He probably never broke eye-contact. What little we know about cats(especially mountain lions) seems to suggest that when you take your eyes off them - they get the 'OKAY HERES MY CHANCE' signal. If you are walking in the woods and spot a mountain lion looking at you, you should lock eyes on him and do not try to run. These are things I was told by a SAR guy - but these things are unpredictable by nature.

They probably just watched these lions eat, and IDed that they were juveniles - theres no way a hungry adult lion retreats to a roll of toilet paper. And a just love how that fat-ass thinks its going to buy him enough time to stand up from a prone position and run into the vehicle.

What does this even do? I mean how would science gain from this little game this guy plays? It seems like such an unecessary risk.

There are no written directions on how to approach lions on all fours...

No kidding. I'm almost sure there was. It was discussed in the chapter just before "how to kick a Cape Buffalo in the junk".

Looks like another Treadwell to me.

I couldn't imagine facing a lion that size. This one was almost strong enough to take me while just playing.

Actually everything that I have ever read about cats large and small is that locking in direct eye contact is a sign of aggression/fight for dominance. Cats will actually have staring contests and the first to look away or blink is the looser. However, after the first cat blinks a reciprocated blink means acceptance into the pack/pride. Domesticated cats have this practice as well.
experimenting this with a cute little house cat = fun
experimenting this with a lion of most any age = food for the lion

i dont know which video length you guys are watching, cant get it to play on my comp, but youtube has the same guy with a 9 min video. He explains how he does it and how he stops the attack from happening which was interesting. And why the TP is explained. Looks like he knows his loins but still thats not somthing you mess up an live through.

ps that cat was avoiding eye contact, not looking for it
