Bingo! They are not moved to 2nds because they perform on any different level, but because of either aesthetic issues or because something is no longer in production.

Part of the reason that warranty no longer applies to 2nds (the way the program was originaly set up) is that if a 2nd is returned because of issues related to what made it a 2nd (such as flaws in the coating), SOG is not going to replace it with a new one. Just a prudent step.

If policy has changed, I'd be surprised.
