G-10 and Micarta

Considering the post mentioning plaid homemade "mycarta" is just over four years old, I doubt we're going to hear much about it now ;)

Layering patterned cloth to make a laminate is a lot trickier than it sounds. First you have to get every layer to match/repeat just about exactly, or it will just look a mess. Then there's the fact that the cloth is only printed on one side, so you end up with a pale stripe "between" every layer... which also looks pretty awful.

one man's "aweful" is another man's beautiful ;) and thank god, or we'd all be after the same woman (or man... i don't discrimiate) lol. ...I've saved so many scraps of denim, canvas and burlap just for this purpose and have wanted to do this for years as well, but just haven't pulled the trigger yet. i think with some trial and error, a fella could make some truly unique and beautiful stuff.

Good luck with Alpha. I tried contacting them when I first started working on handles. I sent e-mails and left voice messages for three weeks, and never once got a response. I wanted to do business with them because they are supposedly local for me. Alas, local doesn't always mean responsive.

Im surprised, AKS has been awesome to me, they are now my absolute favorite supplier.

If you call when they are open I ALWAYS get someone to pick up the phone.

Even on instagram I have mentioned them in posts and they are very active there too and I see them giving advice on posts frequently.

Ahhhhhh I see... I'm new to forums and don't have it figured out yet. I'll get there!

I just ordered from Alpha on two separate occasions and their service was exemplary. Incredibly friendly people and very quick!!

Since tryppyr 's post was from 4 years ago, and Alpha replied in this thread (post #10, also 4 years ago), I wouldn't be too concerned. I am pretty sure it is well know that AKS is a top notch supplier and very active here and elsewhere on the interwebs.
