it's looking pretty sweet.

Seems a little expensive, but it certainly looks great. Probably won't be getting one, personally, but it's neat to see more spyderco fixed blades.

You get a knife and a leather sheath. If you bought both in separate transactions it would probably cost the same if not more.

My G10 Bushcraft should arrive on Monday (tomorrow or maybe Tuesday), and riding shotgun in the same package is a new CF Lum Chinese AND a CF Gayle Bradley! Now THAT'S a "goodie package!" :D

Sorry, but that's just incorrect. Especially since this sucker is toting a 280$ MSRP... You can find a whole lot of quality knives with nice leather sheaths included for less than half that.

Street price is nearly $100 less than the MSRP. That makes it about $50 more expensive than the most expensive knife you linked. Which still seems pretty reasonable.

I really like the looks of this one, but I do agree about the price being a bit high, an Enzo trapper with black micarta scales in 01 with leather sheath is $114 and the same thing in D2 is $119 both made in Finland.

Or, depending on how you like to look at it, it costs over $50 more than a handmade custom bushcraft knife with micarta handles and the same steel, made in the U.S.

I think for most folks, that would seem (as I said) a little bit expensive for a taiwan-made production knife.

Spyderco's made by this Taiwanese maker have, in my experience, better fit & finish than virtually all US production knives, including the US made Spydercos.

as long as the grinds are on and the HT and ergs are good, there is nothing ostensibly better about a custom. unless you think some of those areas are lacking in some way.

I have the original Spyderco Bushcraft and a Blindhorse Baby Bushcraft. Both are O-1 with scandi grinds. Both are very well made and sturdy blades. Both have comfortable handles that permit substantial force transfer to the blade (useful for carving wood). Both are worth the money. The Spyderco is a longer blade. I like both, but the Spyderco cuts like crazy, noticably better than the BHK. Maybe not a fair comparison because of the difference in length, but I definitely prefer the spyderco, enough that I bought the G10 version as soon as I knew about it. Arrived today - no regrets :)

All the whining is making me want to buy one, even though I generally avoid fixed bladed knives that short.:)

If the G10 handles are as comfy in the hand as the wooden ones of my factory second then $180 is still a great price.

No, really.

It always surprises me that someone would make qualitative judgements about the price of something without seeing more than a picture........
Usually comparing it to a lesser priced, and usually lesser quality product.

I believe the knife is selling for about $180 street price. In my humble opinion, a very fair price for a knife of such high quality.

We received our Collectors and Premiers today and what struck me the most about this knife is the handles....the G10 is beautiful, but the comfort is second to none! The palm swell and the full 4 1/2" handle sets this apart from most other same style knives. We also handle the Blind Horse Knives and while those guys do a great job, the handle design and feel of Sal's Bushcraft sets it apart IMO.

Do you honestly pay full MSRP for knives? I sure dont, unless it is something that can only be had directly from Spyderco. I have this knife in the Spalted Maple Burl. It's a beautiful knife and the ergos are to my liking. The knife is a razor and can cut and chop pretty well for my uses. Living in Arizona I have no Bush to Craft really (as Yablanowitz stated a long time ago in a similar post). But the knife is just the same. Have you seen the leather sheath this knife comes with? It's excellent quality, I've seen similar sheaths go for around $80-$100. A 4" fixed blade in O1 with a leather sheath for $180, not unheard of. To each his own I guess.

Not to be repetitive, but for those who find the price of this does not fit their budget, you will certainly be able to find nice functional alternatives. However, the quality / performance of the spyderco bushcraft is unbeatable and I obviously found the price fair because I bought one. I was blown away by how good a cutter the original was - too bad the handles came out the way they did, but mine was easy enough to make usable. I regretted not buying two. The G10 handle is fantastic; the knife/sheath are first rate well worth the price, if it fits a person's budget.
