g-10 Endura vs manix 2?

hmmmm...I'm really liking the locking mechanism of the Manix, and in terms of ergonomics, I'm looking for something that will feel as good as the Caly 3 in my hands.

The ergonomics on the Manix2 are great. I have medium size hands but can still get an amazing grip on the thing. Once it's locked and opened it feels like the knife version of a breaker-bar :). It gives you the feeling you could fell a tree with it if you absolutely had to.

My ONLY complaint is it's a tad bulky for slacks in the office (even tho it's deep ride clip is very discrete). I don't think it's a ton heavier than the G10 Endura just a bit wider. You have the Caly3 so that's a nice medium-duty knife.

I would argue that the M2 is a must have and one of the best values Spyderco has right now. For $60ish you can get one of the beefiest folders available anywhere so even if it's a bit large and situational, at least you don't have $200ish invested in a tankfolder.

If you buy a knife for self defense (a poor tool for this job) don't worry about how scary it looks. If you know how to use it and you know the rules of engagement and the rules of DISENGAGEMENT, avoid trouble etc you should be OK.

One of the MANY lessons learned in the process in defending yourself with a firearm and obtaining a CCW (permit to carry) is “never go anywhere with a gun that you would not go without one.”

It is a long learning curve that requires absolute competence with the firearm and ever changing laws that regulate justification. In addition IMO mindset is key. Avoid trouble and ALWAYS be a Gentlemen, even when those around you are not.

Probably more like 99.9999999% utility ;).

Anyway, I personally think if you DON'T have an Endura yet, go get the G-10 one as it is a superb piece of work (check legal blade limits in your state and city).
The Manix 2 is a fantastic choice as well - my S90V one should be coming soon :D. Definitely comes from the large handle/smaller blade philosophy like the Para-Military or Military, but the jimping makes it very grippy comparatively.

Agreed, there's a reason the design has been around for such a long time.

If you do get the Endura, you can always get the Manix in a few more months. It is a great value.

You nailed the one point I left out due to the complexity and length of the post required for such a subject. I have a tendency to preach this stuff and have to remind myself I’m hijacking someone’s thread.

Sorry bout that. Back on subject.:)

I can’t imagine not owning an Endura. I have 3 different flavors all FRN VG-10 and I just love them. It’s a classic, must have and staple in my life. It’s a comphy companion. :)
