G-10 Salts?

I was taking a look at the H1 knives, and all of them seem to have the FRN handles (folders at least). I was wondering if there was a particular reason that there are no G-10 models.

The short answer is, FRN doesn't rust, and G-10 doesn't hold screws well. By the time Spyderco completely rust-proofed a G-10 Salt (rust-proof liners and fasteners), it would probably retail around two hundred dollars.

Ah. I see. I like the fact that with most G-10 handled knives you can completely disasemble them, for cleaning, oiling, or what not. I have a FRN Assist I that I like very much, but the one thing I don't like is the riveted construction. Almost makes it feel cheap, but otherwise great knife.

FRN knives can be disassembled too. The delica 4 and Endura 4 are screw construction.

I believe you simply because I know how you "baby" your knives. :D However, I use my knives on a daily basis, though I would guess not nearly as much or as hard as you, and I haven't had any type of G-10 failure with regard to loosening screws.
Would you be able to elaborate? I'd appreciate it.

Most G-10 knives have steel liners or inserts that the screws thread into. What I'm talking about is something like drilling and tapping screw holes in the G-10 handle of a Military to convert it to tip-up. It is very easy to overtighten the screws and strip the threads in the G-10. Even if you don't strip them then, if you snag the clip on something the screws are much more likely to pull out than they would be if they were screwed into a steel liner.
