Well it is just A knife And I wanted to try some file work. The blade went best with this chunk of G bone I had laying around, so I used it. I don't think it will be bought by a collector. With that said all who have seen the knife have liked it. so feel free to rip it up. or not if you like it. I had fun making it and liked it enough to put my name on it.

Looks great to me, but that's mostly because of the well executed blade and its equisite damascene pattern-welding. The gb fits in well with it, though.

Dave,
All the time, planning and hard work you put into your awesome steel deserves better handle material than that.

It's like putting white wall tires on a Ferrari.

I'd change it.

david...i love the handle.....i love the damascus too...it'd be nice to see a better pic but ......what is the guard and buttcap...wrought iron?.....ryan

I don't think theres anything wrong with it. I wouldn't let a small cross section of like-minded collectors on a singular knife forum sway your opinion. Try to sell it. If it sells fine, the material was fine and the buyer wanted it.

I think it looks great, and I'm sure it will find a home, despite the G bone:D. On a more serious note, I personally would'nt change a thing!!!!

I agree. Personally, I don't like big choils, but everything else I like a lot.

Paul

The handle material looks fine to me. It wouldn't be my choice, but I'm sure there are lots of people that wouldn't have any problem with it at all.

I like it. A lot.

You won't hear me rip it up - GB is not my fave, but that is a fine looking knife.

Roger

I don't see it up for sale.
How much? You can pm me if you like.

I think its nice. Very nice actually. I am sure GB is no ones choice but I think that knife looks good regardless. The GB on it is not so bad either.

Wow thank you all for what I think was good input on this knife. The fitting's are wrought iron. The blade is 4", OAL is 9". And that made my day.

I think it looks great. I wouldn't start making excuses about making what I wanted to as long as they turn out like that. I don't use much bone of any kind but have when requested and it works easy and looks great (watch out for some of those unnatural colors I'm not sure blue was ever supposed to be a knife handle color). What is it with Giraffe bone? Is cow bone better? What about horse? Bone has been used as a handle material since early man realized a sharp rock on a long stick worked better than a sharp rock in the bare hand. They might have even used Giraffe bone. But back to the knife, the handle and handle material fit the knife.

Can I take an uneducated guess? (or float a suspicion? ;) ) You made this knife and handle combination in direct response to the number of GB threads that have sprung up here recently? ;););) Just to prove what a nice job can be done. Nice job!

Could be amount your best hunters we have seen to date. Very nice pattern. One of those that the bigger the photo the better it looks. ;)

White wall tires on a Ferrari?

The gangster whitewall was very prevalent on many sportscars of the mid 50's> mid 60's era. Ferrari, Jaguar, Austin Healey, Morgan and even America's Corvette sported them.

Yep, the Barchetta in that pic is one of my most favorite.
