Like the title says, what's the point of having the G10 overhang the liner on some framelocks?

Tried to get a decent pic of what I'm talking about.

My opinion would be, too lazy to contour the g10 completely. Although contouring g10 is propably done on a cnc machine, so there is really no excuse. I too would love to hear the ideology behind this...

It is to facilitate easier opening of the framelock. Without that relief it can be a real challenge unlocking some knives.

The G10 is contoured to match the lock side of the frame. Then a relief in the liner is added to make it easier to disengage the lock. If the G10 was cut back to be flush with the g10, the symmetry would get messed up and it would look off. If the liner was the same size as the G10, it would hard to reach the lock bar... especially with gloves.

On my kizer 403a, the g10 scale is cut further back at the lock release area, and it seems that makes it easier to unlock, but I don't have many other framelocks to compare to.

You've been in the knife world much longer than myself however

It almost looks like the G10 makes it harder to unlock because it is blocking the path to the lock bar.
I'm carrying a Brous T4 right now and the G10 is flush with the liner, making it easier to reach the lock bar.
