g10, micarta or corian.

I am making some bird and trout/survival style knives. and want them to have strong handles witch one is the strongest? also I have heard that micarta gets more grippy when wet is that true?

I heard that about canvas micarta but micarta and constant exposure to water dont mix well. G10 is better when it comes to water resistance. Micarta looks great though on outdoor style knives.
 
Micarta is tough as nails. It doesn't have quite the compressive or tensile strength of G-10, but it is tough enough for anything that I'll throw at it. If I'm putting enough force on it to damage it, I should probably be worried about getting hurt myself!

If you go look up the manufacturer's technical spec sheets for G-10 and C-grade phenolic, neither one absorbs much moisture over a 24 -hour soak period. G-10 will absorb around 0.10% of its weight in water, while canvas micarta will absorb 0.75% of its weight in water. Neither one degrades significantly with exposure to water.

I have run a couple micarta handled steak knives through the dish washer weekly for the past several years with no visible damage.
 
Heck, I've tapped micarta, made a band saw table out of it.... its tough stuff.
 
Micarta or G10 over corian every time. Drop a piece of corian onto concrete and you will see why. Not having any fibres to reinforce it makes it a far more inferior product.
 
I have used Corian extensively for knife handles. It is a good product to use when you want a nice, smooth, high gloss finish. The white and ivory colors are good for the application of scrimshaw. But it is not a material for hard use knives. It is easily chipped and it's lateral strength is not as good as a reinforced product like micarta.
