I hand sanded the fronts of these G10 bolsters to 2500 and applied some ren-wax but you can still see white lines and dots.
I assume it is the glass fibers showing.
Is this normal or do I have poor quality G10?

(It goes well with the style of knife it will go on, but it is not what I expected)

Its not normal from my experience.

I need to ask....are you sure it was sanded well at the 120-220 grit stage? You want to make sure all the rough grit scratches are out and while g-10 works and sands relatively easily, it can stubbornly hang on to coarser grit scratches.

If you can rule that out, it might be a sub par product.

It could also be dried wax stuck in open pits or pores (which still shouldn't be present).

Are there two different materials?

It looks like you have one material attached to a separate G10 liners.

Thnx for the replies.
They are one piece, filed with a facet. And the dots/lines do not rub away.
I have enough material left over from these scales to see if they show lines/dots as well.
I used a very fine needle file to shape the fronts, then sanded from 400 upwards. So it could be what John says or it could be poor quality.

On the other hand I decided to leave these as they are. I actualy think the lines/dots in the G10 go well with the streaked looks of the sheep horn scales of the knife

For some reason the specks of white are actually starting to grow on me. I like it. Where did you get it?

I would say they are coarse grit scratches or file marks that didn’t get completely sanded out, but i have also had some inexpensive g10 that had some white streaks in it. It had sort of a Micarta look to it. Why are you waxing the g10?
I usually wet sand up to 2500 to 3000 grit and buff. I’ve been getting pretty spectacular results.

I tried some wax to see if it would eliminate the streaks by filling it. Didn't work

Joe, I got it on aliexpress a long time ago
