Anybody knows why doesn't the titanium liner sit flush together with the G10 scales at the choil area? Is there a reason Rick designs his folders this way? It's the same for the ZT0560.

Always wondered this myself. My guess is to make it easier to get to the lockbar with your thumb. Without the liner in that area, it makes the gap just slightly wider.

To prevent accidental disengagement of the lock, this is by design.

I am pretty sure that's why it's like that although I can't be 100% sure. I can't see how it would prevent accidental disengagement as RDA said but I might be missing something.

You should be 100% certain, I heard Rick say it. It is pretty obvious how it helps prevent accidental disengagement, it limits your ability to access the lockbar in order to release it. If the shape was the same as the liner, you could much more easily push against the lockbar, possibly unintentionally.

OK I got where you're coming from. Your POV is that the G10 is extended outwards and not the liner being receded inwards that prevents accidental disengagement. So I guess it works both ways, that you will:

1) Require a deliberate movement(thumb to dig into that gap) to disengage the lockbar [RDA's theory]
2) Have a gap wide enough for easy deliberate disengagement of the lockbar [Droppoint1110's theory]

Am I correct on this?

I think both mine and RDA's theories are correct. They are similar ideas. Aesthetically, it does sort of look a little strange but I hardly notice it so it doesn't bother me. It functions great which is first and foremost for me. The fact that the XM's look bad-ass is a plus though. :D
