This may have been covered somewhere before but I can't find it. I am making custom G10 scale and it has the shiny coating. I really like the look but I want to know if it will last through use or will it disappear over time. If it is going to disappear can I keep it by using a clear epoxy protection layer?

i think the g10 would outlast the epoxy. epoxy and superglue finishes will wear away after time. g10 does not actually have a coating, when it is buffed and polished it shines all by itself.

You would get more info over in the shoptalk section under knife makers discussion. Just sand it to 800 grit and buff it.

Jason Knight used it on his wicked Brut de Forge Fighters.
Shined up nice.

It sounds like you are just leaving them totally flat? The glossy finish is just were it was pressed when made, it's not a coating and no different the the rest of the material.
