Yeah i got bored..framelock conversion of the cts-xhp military. Perfect lock-up and blade centering.

Wow!! I really like the look of that knife. I like the regular Ti/g10 mili but M4 steel just isn't for me.

Just like the orange g-10 version, the brown g-10 on those Militaries is beautiful. Yours is no exception. Very nice!

..and you have the funniest name on here that I've seen so far. Anchorman is one of my fave movies
I also have the orange millie, but I don't carry it. This one is my new edc.

I have to let you know, I am currently using this name on three different forums and you are the first person to ever acknowledge the meaning of it. I'm so glad someone recognizes the reference, haha.

And yes, I have the orange Military too. I'm almost afraid to use it because I don't want to mess up that bright and beautiful g-10.

I agree it's nice, but I'm not seeing that it is M4. The blade apears to be the CTS-XHP. The title of the post threw me as well.

I'm thinking of switching to tip-up, ti pocket clip..any suggestions besides the obvious str clips? I was also thinking of using the pocket clip on the rock lobster so it still looks somewhat stock..

The old L/H Mili's had a straight clip; the new ones have a curved clip. If you can obtain one of the new clips, it will follow the curve of the handle on a R/H tip up Milli.

I think Moonberrys was assuming that the framelock probably came from the M4/Framelock Millie sprint from Knife Works. This model originally had a liner lock and brown G-10 on both sides, so that framelock came from either the M4 or Ti Millie sprint runs.

Yes, thanks. Now I see where he's coming from...my old age I suppose.

Cool idea.

I personally don't favor the brown G10, but it's worth it to have the Ti lockside.

How is the lock up? Done any spine taps? Is the lock sticky at all? I'm not sure how much I would trust the lock up since the blade tang geometry was designed to be mated with a thinner liner lock. I haven't compared a frame and liner lock Military with each other, but I would assume the radius on the blade tang that accommodates small amounts of lock wear, would be somewhat different. I could be wrong though.

Is the lock from the M4 variation? Do you like the XHP better than the M4? If so, may I ask why? I have been really impressed with Spyderco's heat treat of M4. At least the initial run of Gayle Bradley that tested around 65 HRC from what I remember. Not sure if other M4 has been softer? And I thought the XHP was similar to a modified 154CM. Ok im done rambling...

^I see what you're saying about the lock interface. The ti lockside was from the regular ti Millie with the ss insert. The lock up on the regular ti Millie was at about 20% before I took it apart and made the swap. Now it locks up solid right at 50%, no play whatsoever and no stickiness. I was actually more worried about the detent ball not lining up, but that also lined up perfectly. I'll add another picture later tonight. I've done spine whacks with it before and after swap and no failures.

I did this because the m4 Millie is so hard to come by now, and I had both knives just sitting so I figured why not. The xhp doesn't need as much care as the m4 does I know that for a fact. Edge retention might not be as great as m4, but it's help up quite nicely, ive been tearing down cardboard boxes pretty much everyday for about a week and a half now and it's still hair popping sharp without having any touch ups at all.

we may not have the same cardboard ...

for the compatibility questions, as far as i can tell with my milies, all the blade tang interface look the same. i guess it makes more sense to use the same machinery with the same program, same settings etc for both the TI's and linerlock's S30V blades they have in regular production ... why would it be any different for any sprint run blade ?

after that comes the hand adjustement that may be necessary to fit each lock to the blade and the QC ...

..I don't break'em down into little strips like Mr. Ankerson does in his testing vids, possibly why the edge has held up. I'm sure if I were to do that, it would dull the edge, but I have no reason to..
