Gadgets which cost less than 10 bucks...

I just got a Streamlight Stylus on closeout for 'round 10 bucks. Best money I've spent in a while!

Mini carabiners. Lowes has the 3" size for about a dollar. Wal-Mart has a pair of the 1" size for a couple of bucks. Very handy.

Folding travel toothbrush at Wal-Mart. Kind of a neat gift for someone into "folders."

...a used Pontiac Aztec? But then, to qualify as a gadget, you'd have to buy the "tent" option and that would bring it in over budget.

Never mind. :p

mini glowsticks 1.5" long. Managed to squeeze two into my altoids tin. £7GBP for 20 from:
www.dtm15.com
I've seen websites for places based in the States that sell them to. I typed "2 inch glowsticks" on google.
hope this helps.

Superglue (good for sealing cuts too along with its obvious uses)

3ft. tape measure

Dental floss (makes a strong lightweight string/cord for emergencies)

8 oz. fishing weight (attach to a large keyring...put your forefinger through the keyring...you've got a mini blackjack in a pinch)

Magnets (I dunno for what, they're just cool)

hey jazzman, thanks for bringing this topic up from the dead, there were some cool things here i wanted to buy (like that lee valley wrench) but i had forgotten about them. the streamlight stylus seems like a pretty good deal even if it isn't on closeout, it's not often you get a dual function tailcap like that in that price range. umm... lets see what can i contribute... lots of stuff in the tools and tethers section of the berkely point website would be under the necessary price requirement. they have great little clips and stuff, i'll be putting in an order from them sometime soon.

I was using my Streamlight Stylus in the dojo to night as a Kuboton. I could not bend it and it worked great. Good idea for flyers.

someone above mentioned getting some of the Mora knives from ragnar's site: www.ragweedforge.com

If knives are "gadgets" here's another fixed blade right at the $10 threshold

We got a couple of these in the stainless version for camping/fishing buddies (that one is $12 -- whoa, big spenders...) & they are amazing. Real working outdoor knives.
