I just got back from a fun night of gambling at a local Indian Casino.
The wife and I played Slots and video poker. Had fun and came out ahead.
Now neither one of us is a big gambler. Pulling $40 out of the atm to gamble an evening away has always been tough. LOL
But, twice in about the last 6 weeks someone has hit BIG jackpots at this little casino. amazing!
Whats your biggest win/loss story?
I doubled my $20 tonight Woo!:p

So let's hear it...how'd you do?

I score £104 on the National Lottery every year. Every week, I don't buy two tickets.

Years ago I used to allow myself £1.50p in the slot machine at work during my refs break. One day, I actually read the bumf printed on the front of the machine: "Guaranteed 95% payout."

The machine guarantees that for every £1 you put in, it will give you back 95p.

For anyone who thinks this is a good deal, please contact me by PM for a great deal on the Skye Bridge.

Best day betting on the ponies was hitting 2 trifectas for $800+ each. And there was that time I bet $200 on a horse in the Kentucky Derby and got back over $1200. Of course there have been many days when I won zilch! :D

Percentage-wise, I'm one of the biggest winners of the Oregon lottery. I have invested zero; I have never bought a ticket. But, over the years, have enjoyed probable a half-dozen free drinks compliments of fellow bar patrons who won big (etiquite requiring a round for the house).

Lottery: a tax on stupidity.

I was on a cruise last year. My wife was a little under the weather so I went to the casino and put $20 in a slot machine. I played for several minutes and was up about 5 or 6 dollars so I quit and went to the martini bar to celebrate.

In all, I went to the casino three times, spending about an hour total time in there and making a profit of about 50 bucks. I celebrated my victories in the martini bar all three times.

I played bingo twice, losing about $90. After my losses I retired to the martini bar to drown my sorrows.

That's about all the gambling I've done in the last 20 years or so. It's also the most martinis I've ever had in a single week.

My biggest win/loss is my only one, I have only been in a riverboat casino once., went in with $40.00 left with $55.00.

Yep...I'm a real highroller!

I went to the casino once, with $4. I left with $10 and I havent gone back. That was just too boring for me.

Mathematics ranks high on the list of things that confuse me. So explain something for me please. I know the odds of winning one of the big lotteries is astronomical and yet people do win. Is this because the odds of winning with a specific series of numbers is very low but the odds of someone wining is higher because that scenario is not limited to a specific set of numbers? Did that make sense?

Gambling days are over. About $500.00 ahead but since I live in Las Vegas, I quickly came to realize that the fancy casinos weren't built by everyone coming here and beating the house all day. Still get my comps and free stuff so I'm happy watching others keep my property taxes low and relieving the Silver State from having an income tax. Please come visit and see what YOUR dollars can do fer me......:D

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.......(and that includes your cashes!!!$$$$!) Thank you all very much!!!!

as a veteran of working for a fairly large gaming company in vegas, please allow me to quote my favorite quote said in vegas...redundancy be damned...damned.. "all those billion dollar buildings and pretty lights weren't built by winners."

when i first came here i tried a "system on roulette... bet on red, when you lose, double your bet.. eventually, it's gonna hit on red so if you ignore the damn green zeros, you almost have a 50/50 chance of doubling your money eventualy...until that time it hit black 18 times in a row, i realized this system can be foiled, anyhow, one night i won $800 the next night i lost double that. now i don't gamble except for the occassional video poker machine and usually lose anyhow. when walking into a casino, it's best just to toss a few hundred bucks into the air when you first walk in, then, get out aap. btw, i like max's answer bestest.
feeling vedry icky, i remain, me, vampire gerbil

Best I've ever done gambling...

A few years ago, for my birthday, my girlfriend flew us out to Vegas. She was gonna pay for everything. I went up with about $150 in my pocket. At Every table or machine I played, I won (for me to win sitting in front of a machine, the stars must've been in perfect alignment). After the first afternoon, I paid for everything from my winnings, probably laid out $500 - $700, and still came home with over $400 in my pocket.

Of course she was having terrible luck, and always gambled more heavily than I did. Between expenses (airfaire, hotel, first couple of taxi rides) and losses, she ended up down about three times what I was up.

Personally, I think gambling establishments are designed with everyone winning in mind! Obviously, they are there for the big payouts for everyone! Why else would they be in business? They surely can't be in it for personal gain or profit, right? ;)

I've got to go now and place a bet with my last $5 because I am sure this is when I'll win big! :p

Casino gambling = not for me, you are going to lose

Friendly small-stakes game of cards at a friend's house = I'm in

I personally have gotten nothing from gambling...I just can't see the point..

Gollnick has it about right....gambling is a tax on stupidity..

Of course, my contention has always been that gambling is for people with poor math skills..

**somehow, I know the people that won the lottery are now laughing at me**

Well, a ticket on the UK Lottery is about 1 pound. Not exactly a bank breaker when you consider a coffee from Starbucks. All the nay sayers may want to ask the Pakistani immigrant from the UK that won 18,000,000 pounds (about USD$30,000,000) on the fist lottery about his feeling on the matter. I'm sure he regrets it to this very day.

You gotta be in it to win it.

Biggest loss:
I lost $100 in 15 minutes playing poker in Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Gambling sucks in Colorado, anyway. You can't win at any machines. The gambling is just there to make money for the towns. (Same thing with Indian Casinos in NM.)

Biggest win:
In Vegas at Treasure Island I kept tripling my money at roulette (I LOVE Roulette) and then going to blackjack and losing most of it, then going back to Roulette and winning it back... played ALL NIGHT like that. Got toasted too. Went home a week later with the same money I came with.

Am I the only horse player here? We have casinos in NJ but I haven't set foot in one (don't like the odds). At least with a horse race, I get to see a creature of beauty in motion, get to yell & scream and have 3 chances of making some money. Better than spending my money on smokes! :D

I used to bet on the doggies.

I won $20 once betting on whether I could kill 3 flies with one smack of the flyswatter! :D
