Thanks, Vassili.

Hey...that edge looks a little different....must cut like a 'motha'.

Thanks for the pics!

That's a pretty nice edge you put on them... what did you use?

.

How long do you think it would take me to do that with my sharpmaker? :p

That's a seriously wicked edge, is that 10 degrees per side or something? Great job

What the heck DO you sharpen your blades with?! I need to send a couple of users your way along with a case of beer!

Diamonds are man best friends...
especially for INFI

Sharpenint path:

1. DMT D8XX - Extra Extra Coarse Diamond benchstone (form new edge in about 10-30 minutes, Busse edge is quite thick so it about 20-30 minutes).
2. DMT D11C -Coarse (few minutes to polish what was formed by D8XX)
3. DMT D11E - Extra Fine (few minutes to polish)
4. DMT D8EE - Extra Extra Fine 3 microns (few minutes to polish)

Here are my diamonds:
sharpening-06.jpg

... and sharpening base and HRLM...

5. Leather loaded with 6 micron diamond powder - for some reason this is finer then step 4 and at thet point it turn into mirror, so you can look at ede when you shaving. (few minutes)
6. Leather loaded with 1 micron diamond powder - even more clear mirror (few minutes)
7. Leather loaded with 0.3 micron diamond powder - I hope it makes it better but hard to notice, more like final ritual.

Sometimes when I lucky after 7th step it turns really sharp - 40 gramm on thread test, however I can not make it stable and in most cases it not better then after step 5.

Anyway it starts shave after step 2 and shave very well after step 3.

Finally, I able to slice skin on fingertips and this exact knife I use to carve out old splinter I had without drop of blood from my thumb which I noticed only when it start hurts. Never thought it is possible with this thick blade, but Game Warden is just so handy, so comfortable so it looks like it is not matter of edge thickness.

I use it for thick tooling leather cutting to make sheath - great knife for that. It is small but you may apply a lot of power to it if needed.

To make this with sharpmaker you need about few days week using diamond rods.

Thanks, Vassili.

How do you use that angle set up thing? I'm trying to picture it, and can't quite get it?

How do you use that angle set up thing? I'm trying to picture it, and can't quite get it?

Just put stone as it shown and move knife from bottom to top keeping it strictly horizontal - same as for Spyderco Sharpmaker but turn 90 degree. Initially it helps me to keep angle which is same as base angle, but now I just get used to it, it better to observe what is going on etc...

It is almost same as free hand sharpening, but keeping blade horizontal is same as eat soup with spoon - need to keep it horizontal also, so it seems bit easy then keep 15 degree angle when stone is horizontal.

And for polishing on leather I go from top to bottom.

Thanks, Vassili.

Wow those are mean looking edges! You did a great job.

Would love to have those for steak knives but my wife, or in-laws -bless their hearts- would probably put them in the dishwasher... Came home one evening to find them using my razor sharp 8" chef knife to cut frozen pizza on top of my roasting pan!!! Geesh!

BTW, forks go on the left.

The GW is a great steak knife:thumbup:
