Me and my Mom were talking about game shows tonight and she said it was surprising we never saw someone we knew on one of them. That got me to wondering if any of you forumites have ever been on a game show and how you did if you had? Any big winners out there among the masses? :D

Hi Mike,

Wayyyyy back in 1961 my mom and a friend went into NYC for a screening of the game show 'Number Please'. (Word game much like Wheel of Fortune) Bud Collyer was the host at the time.

Somehow mom knew that they selected their potential players from the crowd, and that a tourist was a hot choice. So she and her friend wore colorful dresses and a BIG floral hat. Must have looked like Aunt Millie....

Picked, interviewed, and placed on the show. She lasted three days before she was topped by the hitting the answer button on 'Pres*dent*al ***ker' and answering: "Presidential Cooker". (The correct answer: Presidential Rocker.)

Anyway we were all in the studio for the final day and it was fun. She won a trip to Puerto Rico, a boat and trailer, living room and dining room sets, stove, boxes of spagetti sauce, a peanut butter spreader with a case of peanut butter, and more. All told it was almost $15k back then. WHAT A HAUL! My sister still owns the Living Room set.

Thanks. Who's next?

Wowsers Jim!!! 15 grand in 61 would be like 50 grand today probably!
I wanna get on Who Wants to be a Millionaire show but can't afford two trips up there. If you could do the interview online or over the phone I'd be ok. I know I could make it to 16 or 25 grand and thats a major wad for me!!!

Ok, like the man said, WHO'S NEXT??

Lmao!!! The bowling alley I used to bowl at had No Tap Bowling every Saturday night. You could buy three tickets per game for a buck and if they picked one of your's you rolled a ball and if you got a strike you got half the take for that game. I won more than $27 many times! :D

When Mark and I were in Vegas I was approached to be on The Weakest Link but we were headed out of the casino and to the airport at the time. I'm still kicking myself...

Ugh Danelle, you woulda won gazillions I bet, coulda shared it with all us po folks too. :) Ah, gotta go with your first instinct, might have turned out to be a bad experience. That english woman they had on that show was a whacko and I don't think I could have remained civil in her company. :D

I thought she was HOT! :D I would have LOVED to take her on; in the manly art of sarcasm, she was an amateur.

I used to WRITE occasionally for a game show up here called Party Game - but if anyone mentions it, I will deny it. ;)
