I have had my Ganga Ram blade only for about a month and just recently started looking at it. My first impressions was this is an ugly piece of rusty carbon covered steel. To the kami's credit it was well greesed. The H.I. logo was easily seen in the blade.
The scale was fairly difficult to remove till I started using sand paper. After removing some of the scale I was impressed with how close it matched my GRS khukuri. The kami probably would not have to grind very much to finish the blade. Also, I discovered Bura's mark (my request).
I still have not decided what to do fo a handle. I am thinking of trying the kevlar filled epoxy in place of steel filled epoxy. I am concern about the epoxy cracking under heavy use. If I decide on an epoxy I will certainly notch the tang and roughen it up to provide a better grip for the epoxy.
