Hi guys. Anyone have a Ganja Wala? I searched and found a little information, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some more insight on this model. I'll be getting one later this week and I am looking for something to feed the anticipation

Thanks

Not carry friendly is no problem. I've yet to actually "strap one on" my belt anyway!!

Although I did try it with my 20 inch AK and it just about pulled my pants down

Roger you can always tell a very insecure man or a man that carries a khukuri.
They both wear a belt AND Suspenders.

I've worn both on occasions when hunting and carrying a pistol or 2 as well as a long gun.

Is the Ganja Wala the same as the Gangaola?

Same thing with slightly different name -- why the knife is so named I have no idea. Literally translated it means having to do with marijuana (ganja). Ganja is an obnoxious weed in Nepal and has to be cut and dug up to make room for corn and rice.

I figure up at Pala's ranch they cut and burn maybe a million dollars worth per year based on US street value to make room for crops that man and animal can eat but they don't use the Ganga Wala -- just a couple of old worn out village models.

I notice that the scabbard for the Ganja Wala has buttons for sashcarry.

Traditonally, How exactly is this supposed to work? Do the buttons actually go into a buttonhole or do they just act to stop the Khuk from slipping down?

Roger you poor man. Guys, he's hopeless, now he's picturing Miss America with a Khuk! Rusty, where are the meds?

I don't see anything wrong with Miss America having a HI Khukuri. And I think it would look nice on her "sash" as well.

Perhaps if Miss America wore a khukuri on her "sash" they might, just might, mind you, become the national knife of the USA as well as Nepal.hehehehehhehehee

I think these are really nice khukuris. Uncle Bill had some layed out at the Khukuri Konvention and IIRC a couple were sold there as well.
I would have bought one myself, but we snuck in early on Friday evening and I got a couple of items then and just didn't have enough money I wanted to part with over the next couple of days.
I enjoyed sharpening everyone elses khukuri's though.

And Howard Wallace's little Spyderco Moran as well. I finally got me one of those on sale and they make excellent kardas that're Oh My Gawd Sharp!!!!

One of these days I will have the new "drop point" model as well.

Different is good

I like a lot of variety in my collection. Practical doesn't matter a whole lot since I probably won't use it anyway!

I have one of these, it was a graduation gift from my brother. Like Uncle said, the Gangaola is basically a BAS. Very similar handling, length, and weight. I didn't really want it for the blade though. I wanted it more for the scabbard, user-unfriendly as it is, and for all the little tools. Like you said, it is different and different is good. I like it, and I have a feeling you will too.
