Hi guys. Last week I finally got my two custom battle horse knives,They are really great. But I found some big gap between the scale & tang & liner for both of them. This makes me worried, these gap is so big that water and blood can easily penetrate.
And because of our country’s transportation legal system It's hard for me to send them back to BHK. Im not a knife maker ,What can I do to fix this issue now? Will it cause the whole scale to twist or warp?

Can't really say how much more they will move, if at all. I would say that is unacceptable and send it back. If you really can't, and they don't crack or warp more, you can fill the gap with alternating layers of thin super glue and black powdered dye. You will need to sand once the gap is filled. You can tape off the scales on either side of the gap to leave yourself less cleanup/ sanding. I would contact BHK, and explain the situation. Have them send you a return shipping label and clarify if it gets lost in shipping, it's not your problem and you should be sent a replacement regardless .

Thanks man! I'll keep watch it for a few days, If they continue to crack or warp more I really need to think of a way to send them back.

I would say it’s a failed glue joint, and possibly the wood scale warping. It may have been overly wet or dry and the changes in temp and humidity caused it to warp and pop loose of the liner. It could also have been clamped too tightly causing a glue starved joint. Either way the epoxy should have held on better than that. I would consider it unacceptable and would expect it to be repaired or replaced. I haven’t had this happen myself, but if I did, I would make it right for the owner and not expect them to fix it themselves, especially on a brand new knife.

I checked their web page and they have a lifetime guarantee so if they shipped it to you I would think you could ship back. Sure hope so but if not I'd go with Kevin's recommendation. I would atleast email them and show them the problem. Looks like good folks and would want to make it right with you.
