garage door springs?

I am having my 25 year old garage door changed today and I was wondering if anybody forged knives from the springs. I was thinking of making some damascus. Any ideas??

Not worth the trouble...Save them though! Treadle hammers,caulking vices? They'll come in handy for something! Trust me saving everything is an important part of knifemaking
