Well I think I at least hit a small jackpot last weekend. I hit a garage sale down the street from me. I found a single bit ax with what looks like a "Michigan" style bit according to my "Ax To Grind" manual I got from the US Forest Service.

More importantly was the bit had "True Temper" on it. I did a little research on that and discovered that it was manufactured by KELLY which was a great old ax company that used to be here in the USA.

Well I hope all you AX Experts agree with me that I at least got my $2 worth. Also the guy had just hung a brand new OP Link Hickory handle in it.

I'm telling you this ax truly does have a great feel to it. Any feedback or information on this ax will be much appreciated.

As soon as I can locate some new batteries for my HP R707 camera I will post some new pics of this "Garage Sale Gem". Being out of work for the past month is making that a challenge however:o.

But you can sure tell when you got a good quality axe bit because the balance and feel that it has when you swing it is very evident. Being a knife enthusiast for the past 15 years I've just recently started taking axes and hatchets seriously. I have also found a couple of decent hatchets at sales as well. I found a Barco brand hatchet but I had to pay a whopping $3 for it :D Wasn't quite the bargain that the "True Temper" find was.

I will get some pics here before too long.
