I just received the confirmation on my CMP order. Just 30 more days and I'll be the proud owner of my very own service grade Garand!

30 days...uh...sure.

every now and then, just occasionally, hardly-ever...

it takes a little longer.

Happy for you.

what's that other Garand related sound? "click, click, smoosh, yeooowwcchh!!!! obscenity! obscenity!!"

so relaxing to consider the sound of a new Garand shooter enjoying thier rifle...:D

Sounds like alot of fun. how much is it costing in the end?

I AM SO GREEN WITH ENVY.Congratulations!!!
Are you gonna hunt with it?

RWS, total cost $803.90 for a service grade HRA Garand, 480 round boxed ammo, and 192 rounds on stripper clips.

JTR, thanks. I don't hunt so no. This will be my 2nd or 3rd rifle depending on how you look at it. I picked a .22 boltie last week, though I did have a BB gun when I was a kid.

The Garand is a great collectible. My buddy's got one & we both go deer hunting with our old rifles.I use a Chilean 1895 7mm mauser.I always wanted a Garand, but it's always been out of my price range.$804 is a steal!!I've always seen $1200 & up.

You'll like your rifle. I spent a lot of time in the Mojave with mine learning yardarge; boulders in the distance you'd think impossible to hit. Course, by now the only shooting in the Ca Mojave desert is probably past Barstow and before the Desert Protection lands.

There is no good reason for a US citizen to not have a Garand if he wants one. Remember that the $804 also includes 672 rounds of Greek ammo. The rifle itself was $595 + $23 dollars for shipping.

Go to www.odcmp.com to get your Garand. Print out the form, take care of the requirements, mail the payment, and in 60-90 days you'll have your very own M1.

Thanks munk. This'll be my go-to rifle. I decided to go with this one over an M1A since California limits us to ten rounds anyway.

I've owned four of them. Though today I only have a sole M1A I still miss the Garand. There is a good, no, great feel to a round going off from that platform. It really is a Good Ole Boy in a world where the phrase is bandied about like a ten cent hooker.
Congratulations on a fine and wise score.

OMG $523+?! Thanks so much!I'm gonna check it out right away:eek:

You're very welcome. That's what this community is for, a place for guys to hang out and help one another.

If the Kinks were recording "The Village Green Preservation Society" today, it'd have a line about having an M1 in the home.

My father has Garands and M1A1's, and an old-school Colt AR15.

These are the rifles I learned to shoot growing up.

I really like all three, each for different reasons.

But what would really have me dancing for joy would be someone making new production '03 Springfield rifles.

Geez, I'd wish I'd bought one when they were $250 in 1995. I shot in a match to get the scores, but never followed through with all the other stuff I had to do.

Finally got one but it was 4 times as much. Good for you!
