Garand on the way!

Attaboy, Kamagong!! I love my Garand & shoot in JCG matches several times a year. Got some other competition that it does pretty good in, shoot a couple times a week just for fun. My Dad mostly used a BAR but I know a couple other WWII vets who've said they owe their lives to their M1's.

My order started processing today. With any luck I'll have a cosmoline soaked beauty in my grubby little hands within the next two weeks.

My Garand is shipping today. I sent my order to the CMP on January 2nd and with any luck it'll be here tomorrow. That's a grand total of 44 days. Not too shabby and the CMP met their shipping estimate.

I really regret selling my Garands back in 1998. Great rifles that were in very good condition. That was when they were, I think, $350 or something like that. Just got so busy being a cop and having to buy cop junk that I sold them to Orion Enterprises.

Should have kept the buggers. Gaaaah!

Now's the time to get them. They're still relatively affordable from the CMP. They say that these Greek rifles is the last big batch left. Once they're gone, they're gone and Garand prices everywhere will go through the roof.

Congratulations.

A friend just got his second Garand, this one an H & R. His first, a Springfield, came with new wood, but matching numbers.

He loves them both.

Keep 'em forever.

I guess I got lucky huh? Weren't you the one who warned me about getting my hopes up and that it usually takes longer than 30 days? I guess I'm the exception to the rule.

I have been regretting letting my Garand go years ago when money was hard to come by. I was paying for utilities with a credit card back then, working two jobs so my wife could start staying home with our first of eventually five kids.

Well, my wife still stays home, i still work two jobs, sort of, but things are much better.

My best friend, (other than my wife!) who is still down in NC, tells me last Friday that he bought an M1!

Now, following this thread, I think I had better find a way to get it done. I have 340 or so rounds and 40 some clips around here somewhere .

patriotic duty, mumble mumble mumble, yadda, etc.

BTW, do they charge your card right away, or when it ships?

If they ARE going to send those "refund" checks, I wish they would get them out here, so i could put it to good use!!

(This completes the creative justification therapy. You are now cleared to purchase another gun...)

:cool:;);:foot::o:)

Go get one Tom if you can swing it. The M1s from the CMP are the cheapest you'll find. Just go on the site, find a grade you want, and fill out the paperwork. A few months later and you'll be the proud owner of a Garand.

They don't charge your card right away. They'll hit it when they start processing. It'll ship roughly a week after your card is billed. Good luck with everything.

I was de one.

You got yours in 44 days? Nice.

His H & R was re barreled, haven't heard the range report yet.

I hope it's everything you expected. :)
