The Cold Steel is affordable, obviously it is durable, but I am not fully convinced after this video
Maybe the blade is too heavy and slow for hedge trimming. My light 12" kitchen knife made the trimming work better.

wow. that is some risky stuff right there!!!. My first concern was kitty . get kitty out of that area!! then it was "oh my god he is swinging that thing edge up towards his face!!" had to stop watching as it was stressing the hell out of me.

Imo that sort of thing is almost always too heavy and poorly balanced unless you're, say, baseball-bat cutting bamboo.
