Garud problem - Question

Thanks to everyone for all the great input. Instead of a nail or nail set I think I'll simply try a hardened drift punch, and then if that doesn't work I'll drill it out as suggested and replace it. Nasty is correct, and the wood has just pulled away from the pin just slightly enough for it to wiggle a bit. As you press on it with your thumb one end goes down into the wood just a tiny bit and the other end pops out an equal amount on the other side.

That's also a great idea Nasty about the letter punch. I have a 1/4" "M" that should just fill the bill!

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for all the good help.
