Hi, I am a knife collector from England and have heard so much about Gary Graley Sheaths but cannot find them anywhere.I am looking for a new pocket case for my Umfaan and my Mnandi.Any ideas

I have a custom sheath made by Gary(G2)that holds a large regular Sebenza and a Mnandi together. It was a special project and has a snap enclosure. A very nice sheath. I also have a G2 sheath made to hold an extra large Sebenza blade and allen wrench. There is a picture of it on his homepage. If you think you might want either email me at espmet@ismi.net. I have pics too.

Hi STJames.I've tried that e mail address but it does not seem to work.
Blackend thanks for the offer but I don't own a Sebenza yet.I am thinking of buying one but knife laws a very strict over here!!!!!!!!

Hermie, thanks for the address. It worked.
What a website.I cannot believe how somebody can make a piece of leather look so good (obviously it looks better with a Chris Reeve Knife inside). You cannot buy anything like that in England. The best you can hope for is a production sheath for a SAK (which are also a very good knife but not in the same league). That is unless you want to open a bottle of wine!!!!!!

Hi guys,
G2's Home page

That link from Hermie, is an old one, this one should work as well to view new sheaths that were made, got your email and will reply shortly, appreciate the good words you guys, thanks...:)

I've carried my Umfaan in one of Gary's sheaths for almost 2 years now. Quality all the way. And Gary is great to work with.

Good luck if you decide to get one!

Gary Graley is a super-cool fellow :)

Adi - What's the difference legally speaking between a Umfaan & Mnandi which you already own and a small Sebenza?

I'm not joking about knife laws over here.
You cannot carry a folder with a blade over 3" and then you need a reason to carry it ie if you forget that you have a Umfaan in your pocket and go to a pub you can get arrested for being in posession of a dangerous item and it is illegal to carry a fixed blade knife anywhere!Bloody England!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That totally blows. Some lawmaker who can't see any use past his own servants... Knives... who needs knives??? I DON'T EVEN USE MY THUMBS!!! THE WANKERS!!! Actually it probably has nothing to do with that. It's just one more thing that can be taken away due to things like premanufactured foods and paying some 3rd world country to do all of the elbow grease type work... It makes everyone an office drone and afraid of anything that can jump out and get 'em... like a knife... When knives become illegal... the sh!it will really hit the fan... The idiots are convinced that nobody needs what they don't need... then laws are passed just to see how much further thay can turn the screws. One day they'll make twinkies illegal and we'll get smart and overthrow the government.

But the Umfaan, Mnandi & Small Sebenza are all under 3" blades. Nevertheless, I believe that all locking knives maybe be considered offensive weapons, depending on the judgement of the Police Officer involved. One Met officer I spoke to said he also regarded one-handed openers illegal regardless of blade length.

illegal to carry a fixed blade knife anywhere!

I think you can carry them if the circumstances are deemed correct. ie, chefs can carry knives in a roll when they travel to their job, hunters can carry knives on a hunt etc. You just can't carry one to a pub without a good reason.

This is going totally off topic isn't it? :)

I found this on the BKCG website
What You Can't Have ...
The following items are banned from sale within the UK (although if you already own one you may keep it, but not use it outside of your own property) ... Switchblades, automatics or 'flick-knives', gravity knives, balisongs or 'butterfly knives', push daggers, belt buckle knives, sword canes, or knuckle-duster knives.

You may not buy any knife designed to look like something else, for instance a knife which appears to be a pen, (and it doesn't matter whether the pen works or not, it's still a concealed weapon)!

What You Can Carry ...
The Criminal Justice Act (1988) said that you may carry a knife with a blade length of 3.0" or less as long as it is capable of folding. That means no fixed blade knives. But use your loaf - a knife has no place at a football match, in a pub, nightclub or school and becomes an offensive weapon in these circumstances in just the same way as a screwdriver, or any other innanimate tool.

But I NEED a Bigger Knife ...
If you wish to carry a larger knife then you must have 'reasonable cause'. That means that you must be able to prove that you had a genuine reason for carrying the knife.

You may carry a larger cutting tool if it is associated with your work (for instance a chef may carry a 9.0" butchers knife roll to and from work), or if it is associated with your sport, (for instance a fisherman may carry a 6.0" fillet knife, or a hunter may carry a 4.0" fixed blade hunting knife).

Don't forget it's there though. If you stop off in Tesco's for a can of beans on your way home take the knife off of your belt and secure it in your glove box, or your local Bobby will be unimpressed at your excuses.

Isn't Britain Great!

G2 ? I heard of this guy ;) There is none better and not a nicer guy to be found...

I dunno... sad to say both the knife and sheath have moved on to a new owner....last of the the fixed blade G2's ... :(
