I just bought a knife that I believe to be a custom job. It is stamped garza rgv and appears to be damascus. Is anyone familiar with this maker, what can u tell me about him. Haven't really found anything online other than the name.

92 views and nobody has heard of this guy? It doesn't appear to be poorly done, I would think he has made some kind of name for himself.

rgv could be "Rio Grande Valley" and there are quite a few makers from Laredo on down to Brownsville.

In regards to the name on the knife, it is not me Rey Garza. I engrave my file knives Rio Grande with a scroll under. I do know him, his name is Robert Garza and don't know where he lives. He makes good knives both damascus and good steel.

Thank you for the speedy reply and the info Mr. Garza. I haven't had a chance to use this knife yet but I really like the weight and shape. It seems to be a nice sturdy knife.

I know Robert also. He lives in the Dallas area. He makes a nice design he calls the raptor that fits real nice in the hand. and yes the RGV does stand for rio grande valley.
