I am looking at getting a gas forge. I was preferring to run it on propane. My main use is for forge welding. I have tried to use my coal burning forge but I find the flux and slag build up too quickly to make it effective.

Does any one know of a company that sells a quality forge that would be good for forge welding?

Does the forge need a blower?

Get a 3/4" venturi burner kit from high temperature tools. Build the forge body out of cast iron pipe or fire brick or what ever. If you go with fire bri k line with ITC. If pipe Kaowool and ITC. I have forge welded in mine. Runs on propane tanks for bbq grills. I'm just a hobbiest tho. Works for a first forge pretty well.

ETA- you can buy forges ready to go from Pieh tool, High Temperature Tool, and USA knife supply. Look to spend around $500 and up.
