Hey I'm building a new propane forge.

This one is 3/8" wall 10" X 22" long with 2" Kawool it will have front and rear doors and two non blown burners.

I had to buy a bunch of materials to get a good price. So if anyone wants one I'll build it to your spects .

12" outside length one burner $200.00

22" two burner $350.00

Sorry no shipping but let me know I may be headed your way

If you think your interested get on the list you will have option to cancel after seeing final unit

Jim I live in Houston. I might be interested in the 22" version with 2 burners. What will you use for the base? Will you be forge welding in yours?

I'm building two styles one with the long legs seen in photo and a table top model that has 4" legs.
Yes I will be forge welding in it.
I go to Houston area often.

Jim if I could I would like the long leg version as I will be forging and heat treating outside. Looking forward to seeing the final product.

Gadsden in North Alabama ,I'm interested in a tabletop model, how long a blade can the 12" model accommodate?

It will have a door in. The back to allow longer blades to pass through. If you need something a little longer I think I have a 16" piece already cut.
For the same price.

Me too Scott I got the legs welded on and the lower half of the front . As well as the back plate with the door installed. Next I have to drill holes for the burners and fabricate a hinge for the front door and weld them on.

Good news for some bad for others.
For those of you that have already contacted me about a forge the price will be what I quoted you others from here on will have to add $100.00.
It was a fun project for one now its turning into work.

What's the BTUs on the burners?

KW I really don't know, I'm using a proven design that I got from a master smith.
When I get mine done I'll post some tempeture readings. There would be a lot of variables in btu numbers like pressure, size of hose, length of hose etc.
The important thing is will it get to welding temp. It will or I'll go back to the drawing board.LOL
the one I'm using now is blown and gets too hot if I run it wide open.

It will be a week or so before I can finish it up. I've got to get some orders out.

I haven't tried the burners yet. I did build another one with short legs.
I got back from Albuquerque last Monday but now I'm in Chicago picking up 3 Bridgeport mills. Should be home by weekend and I hope to get them finished up.

Sorry for not replying sooner its been HHOOTT down here in Texas but we did fire up one of the forges and it worked great. Didn't get any numbers on temps. But only took a few seconds to reheat a piece back up to forging temp. This one has only one burner. More later when it cools off and I get the Bridgeport's going.
