Gasket material hardness

That's above medium hard 90 is a harder rubber. 80 plus and its referred to as rigid

we have the stuff you linked to at my workplace. it wouldnt make a good handle imo. it's kind of easy to rip. about like a thin pencil eraser if that makes sense.

Thanks Mike I've come to that conclusion too. I've decided to use red linoleum square tile and just cut it up and use it. I'll do a little test but it should polish up nicely. I use "old bowling ball" now for my wide black spacer material and it works great! Goodwill had old BBs for $5 each. Hopfully someday I find a red one!

linoleum would be a lot tougher. how do you make the first saw cut in a bowling ball without losing digits?

Well the core of a bb is cork like... so you just slice off pieces from the sides. I'll show you a pic of the engraving vise I made from one; that's how I discovered "bb spacer material" It's just hard, hard rubber.

i tried to destroy bowling balls a few times in my hay day. amazing how far they bounce when dropped from heights. one day i am going to attempt engraving. post that pic up.
