GASP! non-balisong Daily Carry??

My friends think Im a nut for carrying my Cam everywhere. I play with it endlessly. I was a drummer (school band from 4th to 12th and then varous jazz, metal, hard rock and cover bands till I blew apart my knee playing baseball) and I realized something Drummers and guitarists (mostly drummers) tap their fingers incessently at the slightest hin of boredom. My friends got so annoyed I started carring a pen around to twirl between my fingers (except this pen had a steel spike in it) THEN I got into the habit of having a 3" bladed balisong in the watch pocket of my jeans. Oh well its better than smoking in my opinion.

Also, A lot of the guys in my bands were really big pot heads and I had a few friends that were into the harder drugs as well and I'll say this. Drugg addicts and pot heads are some of the most dedicated people I know not to mention some of the most ingenious as well. Any 16 y/o that can turn some plastic bottles into a gravity bong has some brains somewhere. I grew up in NC and I hate to sound jaded but southern cops tend to give you a tougher time if they dont like your looks. It wasnt so bad where I grew up (Topsail Island and Keenansville [duplin county]) but if you have ever seen the movie Easy Rider, it was just like that. Even 10 years ago. If you had long hair or earrings or a Northern accent or were a different race, cops were a little bit quicker to assert powers that apparently God had bestowed them and felt that the rest of the force was in good hands with them as judge. Upstate NY cops arent too bad. NYC cops can be however.

Sorry to sound judgmental. these are just one mans observations.

i recently got a m-14 sniper (m16 clone) from bladeauctions for like $15 shipped and i was suprised that its actually a pretty good knife. Now i feel bad that i dont carry my 42 around cause it was so damn expensive, but its hard to carry it cause it flips around in my pocket since i dont think i'd ever wear a belt sheath.

I never leave home without my Buck Crosslock "hunter". A plain Ole Joe but a handy unit and I can have it out of the factory sheath and open in under 2 secs. Holds a GREAT edge and handles my daily abuse beautifully.

I would like to upgrade though. This thread gives me a chance to view different opinions of the folders out there. Seems that I should inspect an Emerson

I'm really wanting that Apogee blade though!

"Catch you on the flip side"!

Im really surprised that only one person uses a Spyderco for daily carry. I recently got my Girlfriend an older Spydie for about 30 dollars. Still sealed and NIB

You mean that there are non-balisong knives out there! No way!

Other than my 42-S and 42-AS, I carry a Wenger swiss army knife. It has pliers, sissors, and other normal stuff.
I used to carry an old Craftsman stag handle folder w/a eagle etched on the blade, but tail feathers were geting sharpened off, and it was a family members before he pass away, so I put up to preserve it. Locked up safely now.

Later.

I had three Spyderco's as daily carry knives, but that changed after I bought an Emerson Commander

I almost cut myself a couple of times because I wasn't used to the "wave" getting stuck in my pocket, but now I just love the knife. I'd like to have an Emerson or Fred Perrin Griffe, and a Spyderco Chinook and Gunting, as a backup

The sad thing is I heard they're going to change the knife laws here, so that locking blades will be considered daggers, meaning they're illegal to carry...

I just hope the guy that told me this was wrong.

Right now it's a Spyderco Endura - although it changes more often than a "rapidly changing thing" at the moment.

Plus I always carry my Leatherman Micra and a White Photon Light II.

I live in the UK, so carrying (or even owning for that matter) a bali is a definate no-no... and that's a jail time type of "no-no" as opposed to the slap on the wrist variety.

Hmmm, besides a key chain bali, an 3" ATS-34 bladed, titanium bolster-lock folder, with blue g10 scales. By Dobruski.

For the last few weeks it s been a 42 l/r front.

If not those, I tend to have either Spyderco Chinook (903) or a Rekat Carnivore in my r/f pocket. Clip on the carny snagged and worked loose, so its pretty much just the bali's or the Chinook.

If i'm feeling dressy, I'll slip on a little Spyderco Lum ti tanto (the only tanto i have ever liked) because its thin and light, but still one hell of a blade.
