Gatco kit vs Meyerco pull through?

DeadboxHero,

We are proof of the fact that Spydercos make great work knives.

Not a lot of folks think of them that way, but it's true. In the 10 years i've been working this knife, i wonder how many cheaper knives, or utulity knives or heavy duty box cutters i would have gone through?

The only thing i don't use mine for is to pry things other than those big boy staples. I just get under them and twist the blade so the top of the blade, the unsharpened thick part does the heavy lifting.

I've only had mine since 2014. It's held up great.

I only cut wire once,

A small half mm rubber coated steel wire when I first got the knife.

I looked at the edge and decided I wouldnt do it again haha.

Its a great working tool but it's a little too premium for the general public. I feel it takes some appreciation to see the benefits of VG10 over 440a for the average dude.

Maybe it's a regional thing. No one around here that i know uses them for work.

And maybe a lot of the guys you work with are following your lead.

Or maybe the guys i work with are cheap bastards and won't shell out for a good blade.:D

Nah, most dudes out here in Oregon use Benchmades.

Spydercos are rare.

Um, tons? Tons of folks? You know tons of folks? And you took a poll of the tonnage, did you? :D

Look, i'm not talking about letter-opener working knives. I'm talking about a working knife that can handle stuff on a construction site.

i beg to disagree but you don't know what you're talking about. Not a lot of folks consider Spydercos REAL working knives. I know a lot of workmen and women and not one carries a spyderco for job related stuff. Not one!

Somehow i get the feeling if i said the sky was blue, you'd say it was green. And if i said the sky was green, you'd say it was blue.

You're a funny guy.

I don't know why you are emailing me trying to get my phone number but please stop.

So... Craytab and Bobby are wrong in their surveys because YOU don't know anybody who uses Spyderco (or other quality knives) for work. Therefore, your survey is right??? I don't know what your point is, but you certainly aren't making yourself well-liked here.

Well, the world can be a big place or a small place, depends on your perspective. Can you define "stuff" as it pertains to your job? Be specific if possible. Maybe the people you know in construction haven't ever bought or used a Spyderco knife. I think in your case, the people you know, workmen / women might not have ever used the brand. Not everyone knows quality, some that think they do actually don't really have a clue (right tool for the job and all that). It is what it is. When I cut wire, I use wire cutters, when I strip wire, I use my knife or the wire strippers, scoring drywall I use a razor knife, breaking down cardboard, cutting strapping, plastic sheeting for the floor or wall, that all goes to a knife.

I have done a lot of drywalling, cabling, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and renovation/remodeling work. Many of the knives I see on construction sites are in the hands of people that don't care or know much about quality, so again you are right. Those people carry beater knives from Lowe's or HD or even Harbor Freight. Those folks think that paying $50 for a knife is insane, especially when they can get a couple 24/packs of Bud Light for that when they go home at the end of the day. In any case, I've used all sorts of knives at work; CRK, Benchmade, Spyderco, ZT, Kershaw, Boker, Busse, customs, on and on. There are plenty of good knives out there, buy and use whatever you want.

Tis the way of the internet...personal opinion trumps all other logic or experiences.

I didn't know they took surveys! Talk about thorough!

And, by the way, no one told me this was a popularity contest. Most folks here appear to be regular guys but there are a few, just a few here, that are overtly effed up. That's the group that i want to be popular with!

Yep, i want SOME of these blade boys, who are among the strangest people i have ever seen, as "friends." I mean the real weirdos.

You know the ones i mean, the ones who have been members for years and average 11 - 12 posts PER DAY! Say anything you want. There's something effed up with that. And, if you're a normal human being, you recognize that.

I have noticed that the 'serial posters" are consistently among the most argumentative and contentious members,. They'll argue about ANYTHING! My theory is this gives them more opportunities to post a dozen or more times per day.

Go ahead. Watch those guys who just love to argue. There's a direct correlation between the average number of posts per day and what i call the *ssh*le factor. The higher the average number of posts, the bigger the *ssh*le. :) The numbers really do prove out.

Obsessive compulsive? You bet. Locked in their "special" room so no one can see, just a'rubbin' those shiny blades, hour after hour, day after day, year after year.

No friends, no families, no jobs. Just sitting around all day and night lubing and fondling their blades.

These are the guys i want as blade buddies.

Good ol' craytab. There's an 11+ post post per day guy right there. Always on the alert. Always ready to post.

It took him less than 15 minutes to read and respond to my last post.

QED.

I'm not sure the context you intended this term to be used in, could you elaborate? I'm aware of what it means, it's the context i'd like clarification on. Thanks.
