Gateway Knives. What knife or knives got you started on a brand or style or what not?

Benchmade barrage a decade ago or so got me into the company, and high end knives in general. This knife is also why I expect so much from Benchmade on their recent knives.

I had several spyderco knives before, but it wasn't until I bought a military that it "clicked" for me.

Geez, I don't even need the enabling friends to cheer around... Just bought another smashing knife from another outstanding knife maker in Bulgaria with no other need than it was just too nice to pass on... and popped another beer, by the way. Cheers !

These were the knives I lusted after... The "Bowie pattern" was the "bees of the knees". You had to get one, whatever the origin. We probably bought a lot of crap back then and liked it ! They are all gone... and that's a good thing. The crap loving thing has not died, although : my son has a thing for knives but he buys mainly definite crap like Herbertz' and what not. I do my best to educate him... but, hell, the education times are long gone (he does what he does and I do what I do) and his girl friends are way shapier than mine. So, there's that.

Spyderco Dragonfly. Once I realized that a small folder with "plastic" handles can be that well-made, practical, and actually usable I just had to try out a bunch of other knives.

A friend gave me an Emerson Horseman for my birthday. I used it hard for many years I liked it so much that when the time came to replace it I got another... and then I also decided to take a look at other knives by the same maker... and now I have around 20 of them at any given time.

When I first saw the Spyderco Police it blew my mind. I had no idea at the time that the "modern folder" had been invented. One-handed opening! Pocket clip!
Same here ! First folder to really stand out to me as something weird and special . Carried one for many years .:)

Cold Steel Master Tanto was it for fixed although the Trail Master got more carry and use .

A couple of $25 Kershaw flippers, then a $50 Spyderco Tenacious.... then all hell broke loose!
