Gator Show Report Lakeland Florida

From $30,000.00 plus to just a buck there was a huge choice of knives for sale. I seen more automatics for sale than I remember seeing at the Blade Show! Just as David and I were pulling out to go home David swapped a orange 110 auto in S30V for a Buck Germano LE dagger. I personally have doubts about the Blade Show happening and if it does not get canceled whether I will attend. There was one moment on Sunday a huge breeze was blowing out as I was walking in the door and I wondered if I was getting hit with thousands of Covid spores..And if it was worth the risk. At Atlanta there will be literally thousands of people from all over the world and some WILL absolutely have it..and the unlucky will catch it..

David's there already and set up yesterday..I'm having my coffee getting ready to go this morning. I got a report last nite this year's Show is really busy!! I'm not really surprised first because Dan puts a lot of effort and expertise into making this a sucess! Tied for second I think is folks are sick of the lockdown's and fear of Covid and third it's really a great show. Nothing can really compare to Altanta just because of the size the Blade Show is. This is a KNIFE Show and not a flea market and/or gun Show. What has impressed me from years past is how many Custom makers set up here from all over the South east. At one time I was considering buying and collecting a fixed blade Custom from Florida Customizers each year because a lot of them display and sell here but 112's call louder.. It's probably too late for most of y'all to come to this year's show but it is worth considering next year. Coming down to Florida in January is ALWAYS a good idea lol! Gene is here now with his Yellowhorse knives and David told me he made a trade with him yesterday. David also told me he won the Judge's Award yesterday for a one line 110 (one of the first 50 with a tan shieth) that came from the Buck family..I'll start a new thread this weekend for this year's Show but I have to get going as Armand wants me to check for Bucklites and of course I got to look for odd 112's!

After a chilly start in Ocala this morning I met David in Lakeland for the Gator Show! It was sold out and all day there was a great crowd. Virtually everyone was wearing masks and as much as possible social distancing so I felt as safe as you could be in a event like this. I was relieved about the precautions because Florida is a Covid hot spot so it just makes sense to be careful..
Gene Merritt was set up and had a incredible selection of Bucks including the only fixed blade 532 Yellowhorse that I have ever seen along with a seller who brought a huge collection from a former South Eastern retired Buck distributor that included many rare prototypes and one of one Bucks! I'll post some pics of Gene's table and his tomorrow. I wish I had brought more money..For those folks who might want to go it's open till 5:00 both Saturday and Sunday. Even though the Randall collectors club did not have it's own display area there were many to see and buy if you like them. Plus there were many Custom makers from Florida and the South East. I really should have bought more money..
Lots of Bucks for sale too as I think besides David and I 110 and 112 displays everyone else was selling. As I was setting up I turned around and 2 guys were picking up my 112's to check out..I just smiled and said "Yep they are some nice ones" Tomorrow I will post some more pictures and give you a update on the Show but so far it looks like a great success!View attachment 1500090 View attachment 1500095
I can feel your warm Florida shake :^)))
I can even vividly see it ...

bucksway bucksway , what is the model of the limited edition mid lockback folders that look to be smaller than the 112 the 3 are next to? Are these currently made? Thanks!

Have fun, I really contemplated going today, but got other things taking priority.

Same out-of-focus pictures from last year.

Too much.LOL
That's because it is last years zombie thread added onto for this year! When I hit David Martin's post I was confused until I looked at the date.

Thank you for the 2022 update Clint, can't wait to see some 2022 photos of the show!

Yes, I understood that JB,hence my comment.

Nice displays and thanks for the pics. Wish I was in Lakeland instead of looking at 20 inches of snow outside. Grrrrrrrr

Tomorrow morning it WILL be cold..in fact the coldest in 4 years in Central Florida. We are expecting 23 to 25 in Ocala and lower in Gainesville. Further north colder still! What really matters in Florida is how many hours below freezing it is. At my house we are getting a Hard freeze which is six to eight hours below freezing. Since its so rare lots of exposed pipes and pumps can easily be damaged especially if the water is not run continuously. The little pipe from tank to the gauge (pressure switch) is particular vulnerable on outside tanks. That will cut off your water quickly. I feel sorry for the new owners cheep installations done the last 4 years.
The Show itself went great today! I counted over a dozen Florida makers set up. Lots of sales few smokers outside lol! I got KathyJo a tiny pearl keyring knife but no deals (and few oddballs) David's and Cindy's display got a lot of attention. Gene had a really nice Yellowhorse Magicians 112 with the USA and Confederate flag on each side. LOTS OF RANDALL'S and surprisingly MicroTec OTF including some really high end models. About the same as last year except for the Micro Tecs..
