Gave it a shot.

I'll probably take it apart and start over. The idea of a matching sheath intrigues me.

I'm hoping it wears like a leather handled fixed blade. In fact I'll get it finished then build a matching sheath. Then have a giveaway. Hopefully someone can use it hard and report how well it holds up. A patina on the leather would be pretty cool. No dye this time so oil from a person's hand will color the leather naturally.

Maybe two male snaps on the scale that snap on the face of a belt loop. Ill think of something. Fun stuff

I was thinking that you could epoxy the scales but also hide a pin or two under the stitching, somehow. The pattern would have to change, though, I think. That would make it more secure.

That's really cool! And if you are wondering how it will hold up, it will. I put leather scales on an old slipjoint about 3 years ago and it has held up fine. The only thing is the bolsters get that green build up from the leather every now and then but a little Mothers takes care of it. I sealed the leather with some super glue and it almost looks like black horn. I like the idea of the stitching though, that's sweet!!
