We are having a bbq on Monday for my son's birthday (which is Tuesday). Will edit this post later with pictures. FYI I have a pretty good sized watermelon that I'm planning to helmet-ize.
Edit: so, the last 48 hours has been amazing. I got to spend an awesome day with my son and welcomed another one into the world. I have only been able to get 1hour 45min of sleep and I figured if I didn't get this done now.. It wouldn't get done. So here is my entry!
We are planning a bbq for my eldest son's birthday. Seeing as I am short on Beckers and the 2 is my favorite (so far) I decided to bring it to the kitchen to complete my task! Thank god the "show your edge" contest ran just before I did this challenge
We start with getting the veggies ready for the BBQ. I diced some lettuce and sliced a few tomatoes.
Then I moved on to my work of art. It started like this;
I gathered my tools and traced my pattern.
I then started thinking of a way to do this with the BK2 because stabbing a watermelon with a 1/4 inch thick blade would just crack / shatter it. So I scored the top of the skin and traced out my pattern again and started just going deeper and deeper. Then I went to the bottom area of the helmet to and started removing chunks so it wouldn't split.
I then removed the entire bottom and started stabbing / scooping with the BK2 and ice-cream scoop. When it was completely emptied I then started cutting out the contours and profiles of the Helmet with the same technique that I used before. After I then used the pieces I removed from the bottom to make my top parts. Then this happened;
Spartan's wished they had a BK2
And just because it can't just look good on the counter. My 12 hour old son Nicholas, a BK2, and an insanely overtired daddy.

I'm going to try to edit this again after I start BBQ'ing when the family gets over. No promises as I'll be chasing my other two kids while feeding everybody that comes over. I haven't even had any drugs yet... what made me think this was a good idea haha!
Edit: I got one picture of the bbq
Then this awesomeness happened
My wife and Dad got some great shots too. I'll post when they send them to me.
Cheers,
Tim
