I'd get the GB2, I'm a huge fan of the original GB. In fact it's the one knife I've ever owned multiples of and keep coming back to. I might get a GB2 myself.

I love the Kapara!
I fondled a GB2 expecting to fall in love, but it didn’t do it for me. FWIW, same thing happened with the Slysz Bowie.

Looks like I’m going against the grain on this one. ;)

Nothing wrong w/this. Different strokes for different folks.

BTW, I share your opinion about the Bowie but, then again, I don't see it as all that different from the Kapara. I got over 100 Spydercos now and I will never buy either of them.

I wasn't at all a fan of my GB2. Discomfort in hand with the proud liners, a liner lock that wasn't easy to disengage, and a tip that cut my thumb while reaching past the closed knife in my pocket made me ditch it.

I'd vote Kapara.

GB2 its just a sweet knife for the price!
Ya I'm kind of suprised its 30-40 bucks cheaper (less expensive ;) ) than the Kapara. Maybe because the Kapara has really nice cf and the GB2 just has a laminate. Which isn't a big deal for me but I wish the GB2 had the same cf.

On my GB2 if I showed it to someone who didn't know any better they would think its full carbon fiber. Mine is very very well done. Plus M4 steel is awesome it takes a mean edge and you can get a fairly low angle if your into that.

The GB2 is IMHO one of the best knife for the value in the spyderco line up

You have a knife with good ergos and incredible steel for the price of a basic s30v knife

The only issue with the GB2 may be the access to the last net lock to disengage the blade
But I have arranged that with an easy Dremmel operation :)

However if your main task is food prep, then the kapara may be a better choice

SliceyDicey did a comparison recently ::

I like Brian and have purchased a knife from him but his scores and "decision" are entirely arbitrary based on his own preferences/biases, as would be the case for anyone else trying to make the comparison.

Nothing "wrong" w/that but it doesn't necessarily inform anyone else's judgment unless his/her decision is based on the same preferences/biases, which is seldom the case.

I personally don't see the choice as a toss up but, then again, that's based on my own preferences/biases. All you can do is make the best choice based on your own needs/perspectives.
