As I mentioned earlier, the bump on this three year old thread got me to purchase a Gayle Bradley Spyderco. Yes, I'm really late to the party but I'm glad I came!
The GB arrived right before the beginning of my 11 hour shift yesterday. I was very excited, to say the least. I like the beefiness, the solid feel, the aesthetics, the lock up. However, I was quickly concerned about the lack of a finger choil and concerned my hand might slide off the handle & onto the blade in hard cuts. I got the knife as a hard-use blade for work. Anyway, I soon realized that if I hold the knife with my thumb on the ramp, then the pressure on the thumb ramp serves to naturally pull my index finger away from the ricasso. Great design.
I used it to cut some plastic ties and cut cardboard and was quite impressed with how simple those tasks were -- as compared to when I used my Tenacious. I like my Tenacious but it's just not a hard-use knife. I also used my GB to unexpectedly cut some carpet. I didn't think it would tackle those tasks as simply as my Journeyman handled them yet the GB performed very well. I REALLY like this knife and I'm glad Xiecheng bumped the thread because I had missed this knife altogether back then.
