I need help deciding between these 2 knives. I have no way to handle them before purchase. The Gayle Bradley seems like a much better deal, but the PM2 has a great reputation. If you had to vote, which would you pick and why?

This will be my first spyderco.

I have both- For general use I would pick the PM2, and I was carrying mine today. They are similar in size, the GB is heavier and seems to be tougher. The blade shape of the PM2 suits my needs better and the knife is easier to operate for casual use. And actually you can't go wrong with either one.

Agreed- can't go wrong either way. GB is slightly difficult to operate the liner lock. There is a mod for that.

I love the PM2 for casual carry. I would prefer the Gayle Bradley, however, if I need heavier-duty. They are BOTH wonderful models.

Personally, GB is a better PM2 and similarly sized albeit heavier. It's a terrific cutting machine. Like others, can't go wrong with either choice.

I saw a video of a guy splitting logs with a pm2 and a mallet. I don't think toughness is an issue with either knife.

I'm leaning towards PM2, but there is a certain mystique about the GB I just can't help but think about

I'm a liner lock fan and the GB has one hell of a beefy one. Also prefer standard M4 over standard S30V. Although I like the design of the compression lock I just couldn't warm up to it.

Para2

More usable blade shape
Better rust resistance steel
Lighter
Much grippier handle thus better ergonomic
Somewhat safer locking system

GB

Better looking
M4 is one of the best performance steel yet it rust
Carbon fiber
Probably tougher

The PM2 just doesn't feel right in my hand after owning a GB Folder. The Gayle Bradley is one of the most comfortable production folders out there period. The texture on the carbon fiber scales provide a good amount of traction. Made me feel that most G10 scales are excessively textured. I also enjoy its simple function over form design.

Gayle Bradley is a better slicer at least for me it is. I like the hollow grind blade and it looks less tactical than the para 2, I also really like cpm m4 steel. I have not had any rusting, just a little patina on the spine and around the spyderco hole. I would say that the Gayle Bradley is my favorite spyderco and I own too many.
:)

Compression lock is probably my favorite lock type after owning a PM2 for a while. I really like the speed of deployment, the ease of closing and the apparent strength. The complaints of how difficult it is to close the liner lock of the GB worries me and is probably the only thing that will prevent me from owning one in the future.

For your first Spydie, I dunno. The PM2 is classic Spyderco. The GB however is one of the best bang for you buck production knives on the market. I would and did go with a PM2, and after having one for a while, would do so again in a heartbeat. If you don't like it, reselling it for at or close to what you paid for it is easy.

I have both. I would select the GB. Solid with a very classy look. M4 is awesome.

GB all the way! I've owned three pm2's and one gb, I'm looking to get a gb again if that says anything. ;)

The Bradley is one heck of a knife... I HAD two. Sold them both as the knife as an EDC is heavy!

I carry a lighter Manix 2CF S90V and a newer Para 2. Much lighter and the Para 2 is slimmer.

If you're going to 'admire' the knife... get the Bradley.

If you want a carry knife and a user... get the PM2.

I must be weird, I don't get the allure of the Gayle Bradley. I have handled GB's on multiple occasions, and they never impressed me. The only thing I liked was the M4 steel. I do really like my PM2 though, so I'd recommend that one.

I think the Para2 may be a more practical EDC. The GB is a better slicer, it's sexier and probably better built. I prefer the ergos of the Para as well as the sharper tip.
