Hey guys, first post.

Anyone here know about GCS Knives? They look very nice IMHO, but I have no idea about the quality or how they'll hold up under use. Their website is very nice and they have some nice tutorials on what to look for in a blade, sheaths etc. Their prices seem very fair ranging from $49 to $69 with only one going for 89. The whole line is D2 steel.

Now (almost) nowhere on the site do they mention where they're made, although they do say they use the best European parts and are made in small batches, not in Asia. However, if you go deep into there FAQ section, they do say they're made in America. Strange though, if they were made in the USA, you would think they would trumpet the fact on the home page. Prices are a bit to low for American made as well I think.

But besides all that, I took a shot and bought one for $59, I'm just waiting for the delivery. I'll figure out how to post pics and show it off soon.

Thanks for reading!

That is odd. It takes some stones to straight-up lie about being made in the USA, and risk the potential legal and reputational consequences. I'd be surprised if they're made in the USA, though, despite that claim and the note "they are NOT churned out in their thousands in a factory in the Far East."

The closer you look at their site, the more off things feel.

Smells a lot like CFK knives (Ipak) reincarnated.

I've actually read that rumor somewhere. Another guy thought they were likely Paki-made, if not IPak itself. But that goes against being what they say about "not churning out in batches in the thousands in a factory in the Far East". Yes, Pakistan is not considered the Far East, but it is considered South Asia.

Agreed it wouldn't be cool to mis advertise, but maybe they're not expecting to stay around to long. We'll see when it arrives. It shouldn't be to hard to tell by the quality.

Hand made? Certainly. Made anywhere other than Pakistan? I think not. I was amused by the page regarding counterfeit GCS knives. Who would bother?

LOL! I thought the same thing. Trying to build up on a reputation that they haven't earned I guess.

I actually saw a YouTube vid on Pakistani's building knives in a "factory". Super tough conditions and zero safety standards, but you can tell that some of those guys have skills and if they were given a chance to build a really good knife, they could. To bad they'll all be deaf by 40!

Let's not leave out the fact that they make references to folders even though everything they have listed is a fixed blade.

Everything I read on their site sounds like it was written by an American attorney based off of a synopsis for each product that was provided by the manufacturer. ‘Top quality European materials’ and ‘far East’ and the whole counterfeit thing. Something is definitely off.

Yup, there are a number of warning signs, but I'm actually really looking forward to receiving this knife. It's the model 152 on their site and asthetically speaking it's beautiful to look at and D2 is a good serviceable steel. If it has decent finish work, I'll be satisfied for the money. Heck, the sheath looks worth the cost itself!

I wish I could post a pic, but maybe I'm to new here to have that privilege?

I appreciate all the comments and opinions guys!

Just thought I'd give you guys an update.

Well, I'm getting a bit nervous, since I ordered the knife on May 20 and it's now June 1, and no knife. I tried to contact them by email with no response. The on-line order form looked legit like any other order form, but my Invoice #000000011 for order #000000079 appears to be like they just opened up shop. The numbers are very low.

Hopefully, I haven't made a mistake. I'll keep you updated and hopefully my next post will be a review on a beautiful knife.

I wish I was coming back to post a review of a beautiful knife, but...I still don't have the knife!!!

3 weeks and waiting, and 3 emails with no response. Definitely not good. I feel like I was scammed, but the funny thing is, these knives and this company, for the most part, get great reviews! There's not a hint of a scam involving these guys anywhere. So what the heck? I'll be reaching out to my credit card company to see if I can cancel this order.

So I would definitely tell any knife collector/user to stay away from these guys. I don't know what their scam is, but there is a scam here! 👎👎👎

I can't even reach their website:

"This site can’t be reached

The webpage at might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE"
Holy cow! You're right!

I was just on it two days ago to email them. No wonder I haven't received a response. They're gone!

Of all the dumb luck, I ordered a knife from them at the exactly the wrong time. I couldn't figure out what was going on because almost everyone seemed happy with their knives and service. Dang, let's see if my credit card can refund me the money now.

Thanks!
