G'day all, I reside in Australia and have a keen interest in the great outdoors that began way back as a little tacker.

Camping, fishing and hunting has led me to what is now the beginnings of a passionate knife lover and collector.

Hoping to meet fellow members to share common interests, gain some valuable knowledge and have some fun.

Lou

G'day, mate. I've got these Bowie knives in my closet and I don't know how they reproduced in there!

Cheers cbach8tw,

My most memorable outdoor adventure lasted 15 months nearly 20 years ago.

I managed to travel around the contour of Australia living on the land, picking up work when needed.

It was the most liberating time of my life.

Since then our adventures consist of packing my young family and some gear into the car and heading off for the weekend.

We usually set up a family tent either on the coast or in the scrub getting in touch with nature.

Lou.

Welcome Lou! Let's see some knoifes!

Lou7-

Day good yourself and welcome to the club. What's the latest on the Aussie gun laws? Are the politicians still throwing all the guns in the metal crushers? Are they just as nutty (an American term meaning crazy) about knife ownership?

I'll trade you some knives for some good black opal.

G'day Gator,

700000 guns were handed in and crushed 20 years ago. You can not legally own any semi or auto arm. The only thing that is striving since one out of control nut went on a bender 20 years ago is the black market.

Strangely our knife import laws have taken a bit of a backflip of late. Lots of knives are being let through in the last few years that would never of entered the country, although customs still perform a flick test and if any blade opens too easily or is assisted in any way it will not be let through.

As for the black opal, you need to start digging mate unless you have something of great value.

Lou

Yes, I noticed that. But I'm not complaining. I recently got this totally impractical 880g (~2 lb) Bowie off the Internet, a Timber Rattler I think it was, originating in Pakistan. I'm using it as steel fodder to practice my sharpening skills (or still a lack thereof).
